What i found to work is lamp oil, it diesels nicely with a nice puff of smoke behind it.

That's a cool hint John :D I' think i might try that!
BtB, fridgedoor is so sweet...i think it's my new god. :D

So this actually works?

You should drop by, put in in front of my chrony, and fire with and without dieseling. The numbers will tell if it dieseled or not, and, how great the effect is.

That topic finally made me try.Although I've done it in commercial airguns about 2 decades before...

I'm still not convinced...
First I tried your penetration test on waterfilled redbull cans..and made it onto the fifth, without attempting to diesel..So by itself it is pretty powerful..No wonder..at over 500 psi!

I shot two holes in a fridgedoor, one with and one without fuel.
just watch the pics..I can't tell the difference..

I shot the door a third time but due to the huge pressure drop it didn;t make it through.
I found out the hammer was too heavy. It only gave me 5 shots..wich were " faiding" fast..
As a result I have again lightened the hammer...and now I think it's finally balanced out..Lots of shots and still it pilots at high pressure..

New pictures.
I've added a second hammer coilspring on the opposite side, wich should give me shots in the higher pressure regions.

The hammer is faster now, but lighter since the last pictures.
I haven't tested the max pressure yet.
I think I may have to choke the reservoir at some point if I want to get more shots now.
We'll see.
(edit)By powering up he hammer I'm preparing her for an inline reg and paintballtank in stead of the reservoir it has now.

I accidently came across another plate to finish off the left side of the action, wich looks sweet if you ask me.

Awesome, looks like the sawn-off is some kind of 19th century Masterkey attachment :D

Ahh phew, I was afraid that you used your hacksaw when you announced a new picture in the other thread... but thank god it still has its barrel. :P
When you're done with the regulator thing we should run it over my chrony again.

That was Mr. Porter's wall mount right? Where did you put it?

It is visible in the first two pictures.
I found out that with the extra spring it now fires at higher pressures ( didn't try above 500 psi though) but the volume of air that is released is too small.
A smaller caliber would solve that, but I like the big bore-homemade airgun thing. If I need a good .22 I can buy one.

I got 23 shots out of it, but none was very loud.
The hammer needs a little more weight.I trimmed it earlier.
I'll use brass washers as weight, so I can add one at a time.
There must be a nice average to be found.I already fitted some washers on there and the hammer still strikes fast. Before the extra spring it wasn;t when I weighted the hammer.

I will cut off about 15 cm of the barrel when the CO2 upgrade works out.
The last 15 cm is just the sleeve anyway, so it won't hurt performance.Just the outer barrel will be cut.

It is there to match the reservoir in lenght for looks, while the 1 meter barrel could not be longer as a part of it runs through the T and houses the bolt.

What are you waiting for? SAW!

I decided to do some more changes.
I moved the bolt-handle towards the rear, wich enables me to cock the hammer and open the bolt in one move.
Plus the new handle finishes off the end of the bolt, wich was as left open until now.

I put some weight on the hammer in a way that it still looked good ( need to round off the bottom) wich gives me shots beyond 35 bar as far as I can tell.
I also gave the strikerpad an extra counterspring so I have now tuned it in to the power and number of shots I want.

From 30 bar down it gives me 6..so at 35 bar or over that should be somewhere around 8 powerful shots..
I'll have to test that during daytime because of the noise...

If I were to add a magazine running side by side with the barrel I could now pull off some fast repeatative shots... :D

That would certainly complete the Girandoni styling ;)

Also, the title of this post suggests that female undergarments are somehow involved in this project lol

Looking good Brian!!

Quick question- Where are the hammer springs? Did you conceal them behind a plate somehow?

Might be a stupid question... I dunno

Yes, they are hidden behind the plates.
I'm contemplating wether or not to hide the new counterspring under there too..

The problem is, I filled up the two part plate with epoxyputty to keep them aligned with a minimum of screws.Essentially they are one part underneath.

I'll drill the plate as it is, keeping it aligned and remove the epoxy afterwards. That should keep everything okay...

I a-polish-gise for the double post.

I changed the topic title as in stead of Brass T Bolt it just said Bras in the end...wich JSR mistook for undergarments... :D

I was so impressed by the look of Moonbogg's new cannon I decided to polish up the brass..
But I had no luck finding the right stuff so I ended up using ...

Dum-dum-dummmmm.......

Toothpaste!!

And Rag of course..( :D )..I mean a rag...

And boy did that work.
I could have put in some more time...but that would mean my wife would have bad breath all day tomorrow..I left her a pinch..

What?? You did not expect me to use up mine did you!?!? :D

It might not have given me a 100% mirror finish, but 95% is good enough for now..
It makes the parts look like they were originally like this before I put them on...in fact they were sawed, filed, trimmed, bent etc..
anyway...pretty dull looking.I also polished the barrel and chamber, wich makes them light up like never before ( got the stuff dull looking already)
Pictures were taken at night...
