as for what song to learn, as a fellow bass player, I would recommend "neurotica" by meshuggah.

the time signatures are ridiculous, and it is a fun song to play, once you get the hang of it.

i know its not even close to 90's, but....

try learning YYZ by Rush...........

if oyu can play that, note for note, for that long, at that speed, i think you can play most other songs......

Dude, who on here can play YYZ on bass? I can only get through the intro, the really fast part at the beggining, and a little bit of the chorus before my fingers are killing. Like I said before, for awesome old school bass solos listen to My Generation by The Who.

I also agree that Geddy Lee, Flea, Primus, and Victor Wooten are the best. But micheal Anthony was good to to, he has a nifty little bass solo that he sometimes plays.

Yeah, but can he do a backflip whilst playing bass... Flea f***king can! But I cant complain about any of the bassists mentioned here, Flea is just my favourite because of his style and the music genre RHCP used to play (funk rock).
I am now going to listen to YYZ and attempt to play it, since I've never heard it before !

Tell me how that goes, lol. The song is like all 16th notes. I can only get about halfway through it. lol, it's so hard. For me at least you could be better than me.
