Water Ballon Cannon?

Cannons powered by pneumatic pressure (compressed gas) using a valve or other release.

Slight problem. People seem to think that things like that can be "caught".

It's just spent a few feet accelerating at a thousand G or more. It's not going to stop cleanly in a few fractions of an inch.
Energy is Force * distance. If it has to stop in a thousandth of the distance, the force to do that will have to be 1000 times higher - which is going to do some heavy damage.
