I think I'll just play it safe and use a Hacksaw.
You are just talking about two pieces of string just average ones are you?
I might try this later today just to see if it works well.

he means you tie a string to two sticks(the handles) and you use it like a cable saw.

cheesus crust it works, i used a steelwire, i think i found what i'll use to replace my broken racheting pvc pipe cutter

, I have to run out side 20feet to the shed every time I want to use my large power tools, I never liked my hack saw really i always prefered the coping saw for all cuts
I think one of the reasons it works is because of the heat created

Nope, the heat slows it down....The PVC can melt and form on the blade making it very blunt and very hard to cut.

i just tied one end to my weight bench and the other to the back of my gocart and then i slid the pvc back and forth across the string. it cuts about 5 times faster then a hacksaw. the circular saw is probably better but this is free

I just use a hand operated Miter Saw.
Makes a straight cut every time.

I think your supose to tie the wire to 2 sticks and pull on those thats what i did

You mean cotton string, you can actually cut pvc as fast as a hacksaw with it.

I tried it with string. It works well, but pvc dust is insane stuff :confused2:

Cotton string works great for cutting pvc, unless the piece is too thin or it will break, and it makes perfect cuts that are straight.

Can also be used for cutting the outer bevel of a spud cutter.
