instead of the blowgun pilot do you think i can use a ball valve instead. if so what size?

A 1/8" brass ball valve will work nicely.

it depends. I bought an 1/4 inch ball valve ant Ace hardware for 10 dollars so maybe you coul look around 5-10 dollar price range

The ones where I am from run around between 3 dollars and up.

sweet i will go to home depot tomorrow.will the ball valve screw right in or do i have to drill it out?

Well, like I said, "3 dollars and up." I used to work at a hardware store and got like a 15 or 20% discount. I go to the same store and the valves are cheaper than Ace. The store owner is the same one who owns the local Ace Hardware but the difference is Ace is a retail store and the other is a wholesale store.

The ball valve is generally female thread. It will not screw into the sprinkler valve without a pipe nipple.

could i use a a 1/4 hose barb to 1/4 NPT instead of the a 1/4 hose barb to 1/8 NPT fitting? if so, where is a suitable spot to put it? thanks
