Your going to be aiming down the chamber with that bend in the stock. What kind of ammo have you decided on, just spuds sofar?

I'm not quite sure what type of ammo tbh. Maybe rockets?


Also, I found out that not only was that one fitting DWV but so was my endcap AND my endcap's fitting...thanks for the warning...

So, I'm removing all the bends in the stock, so it will be level with the barrel, as was suggested. I'm also getting the pressure rated fitting...

Question though....

If I wanted to mount a schrader(I know I spelled that wrong) valve, would I for SURE need tapping tools? I don't really want to get them, if I don't need them... Would PVC cement be okay to seal it in?

I sagest a pop in shrader, you can get a pack of 2 for like 3 dollars. Drill the hole with a 11/64ths drill bit.

Mind explaining this "pop-in" shrader and where to get one? =\. The "Advanced" Auto Parts store near my house had like 2 to choose from...and they both had the same design...

PVC cement is for sealing PVC. If you need an all purpose sealant, epoxy is the way to go.

By the way, have you ever considered using a quick connect instead of a shrader? They can be found at almost every hardware store, are always threaded, lose less air than a shrader, and are good for the same pressures. I have found that they save me a lot of trouble.

what if he doesnt have an air compressor, then he will need the schrader.

How much are air compressors and where can you get one? I've been thinking about getting one because I figure using a bike pump is going to be slow... :

You have to use a bit of creativity, and make do with what you have. I've addapted almost all of my filling systems to quick connects, including my high pressure nitrogen setup, and they are far less hassle than shraders.

All you need to do to adapt a bike pump to a quick connect is to cut off the hose below the shrader, find a suitable hose barb, put it in the hose and clamp it, and then put a QC on the other end of the barb. Voila.

Nah, $5.80 for the female QC, $2 for a 1/4" hose barb, and $1.20 for a hose clamp.

Okay, I've decided to go with a schrader on this one since it's my first gun, and I went ahead and fixed the fittings that had DWV on them, and I made the stock less elaborate. I now have before myself four choices on which I can make this gun. I will post pictures of all four possibilities. If modifications are still neccessary to make, they will be made.

Here's what I did:

I made the stock either at an equal level with the barrel, or the chamber

Removed the spot where the trigger was going to go...didn't really matter really as my momentary switch got busted...

Finished up the wiring. Just need to solder up to my flip switch.

Removed DWV fittings and the ABS-DWV endcap( I wouldnt have caught that if it wasn't for you guys )

So, the options that I have to build are the following

With CHamber and Barrel equal length:

Stock on top:



Stock on Bottom:



Barrel longer than chamber:

Stock on top:



Stock on bottom:



So, please tell me which you guys think is best...

Also, if any modifications should be made or you have any suggestions for me(other than modding the sprinkler valve) I would be delighted to hear them. I have plenty of fittings and pipe left, so that isnt a problem.

I don't like the stock's shape at all.
Couldn't you make it more shaped like a real guns buttstock?
The way the stock is now it looks like an unfinished tripod stand.

I see what you mean....

But I dont feel I should make an elaborate stock, as it will slow the compressed air down, unless there is something blocking it off from the rest of the gun and I don't know how to do that... =\. Are there any SIMPLE modifications you think I could do to make it better?

I agree with windshrike on the stock. Maybe make all the fittings flush with each other, like this.

As far as configuration goes, I personally like the barrel longer than the chamber. I would also keep the valve as close to the ammo as possible to eliminate deadspace. Also, in that third picture (the one I am suggesting) you should take away that smaller pipe from behind the valve.

Try picking one of the little 'arms' you have going off of the stock and taking that out. that would look much better.
