Hooking up a compressor wouldn't help the "bulk" factor any.
ok, so back to the drawing board i guess. any links you guys have on a simple hybrid i could make? I really like the idea, but just can't stand the complexity of almost all of them, nor can i stand how huge they are. I will however compromise and make something somewhat complex, as long as it isnt huge... any links?
Look at SB15's, Tyler's and mine.

Though they look complex, the majority of the clutter is part of the metering system, which is nessecary for reliable operation. Mine is cluttered by the ignition circuit, but you could use a bbq or stungun to avoid this.

You should base some of your ideas from these launchers, because they are about as compact as it gets when it comes to hybrids.

I think i am convincing my self that a complex combustion is more what i am looking for, forget hybrid, ill just do some nice metered propane small combustion. would that still kill a paintball?

Which I guess you could do, provided you have a stun gun and a check valve.

EDIT: oops, I was still on the first page.

No, a propane combustion will not kill a paintball.

About DDT:
It doenst create high pressures so a low-mix DDT is not a more powerful acceleration then a high-mix DDT, but, DDT does create a shockwave almost no pipe can handle. It just rips PVC, ABS and even metal to pieces.

Where the hell did you hear that?

Psycix, DDT is when the rate of burn exceeds the speed of sound of the local gases(i.e. the ones produced by the burning). It DOES create a shockwave, but the fact that the gas is moving faster means more energy, and more force exerted, therefore more pressure.
