what if another portion of the contest could be to see who could make most to scale rifle (i.e. looks like an off of the shell air rifle, or even a high power rifle) I am in the process of trying to work out some kinks in an idea I had of this nature on my big empty drawing board (my mind).
We'll see if anything ever comes of it.

thats a good idea, so the competition would be judged on looks, design, functionality, build quality and overall coolness... well thats what i think it should be judged on.

With a reasonably sized pneumatic gun that uses air, CO2, or nitrogen?
I'm going to need a shock pump.
We will all need shock pumps.
EDIT: I know that SOMEONE will take my post literally, so I will say now that we can use high pressure sources, too.

so if this comp is happening then we should make some rules to make it more interesting/challenging/fun

Well here it is starting to look more and more like a gun now. I decided to make it a pistol. I want to give it to my little Nephews. I want to add a scope and such. Anyone figure out what the air tank is made off LOL.

No your right I saw a air tank made from a brass or copper one one time. Couldn't find one of them so I used this one. Don't tell Moma thats why the toilet don't work LOL

isn't the sprinkler valve a bit big for a pellet gun, i would use a qev and blowgun trigger, this would also give the gun better lines.

If I knew what a Qev was and how to build one I wouldn't use a sprinkler valve. I had nothing but trouble with them. They want seal and they let air out the barrel.

Chuck, you don't build a QEV, you buy one.
Check the wiki for their operation and Fastenal has them on their website, under the name 'exhaust valves'.
