No1 knows anything about check valves for filling it apears?

well check valves will stop the air from flowing back...

Yeah, i know that. Im just wondering if they stop air reliably enough even when hit or shaken to be the fill on a QEV, if it leaks the gun will go off.

well they have a spring in that stops the ball (i think) moving around, and if you remove the schrader core the the air on the scrader side will be released when you disconnect you pump so the air pressure will also kepp it shut. i personally have a non-return valve which does the same job and i can't blow through it because of the strong spring.

Check valves shouldn't leak when bumped around. They have about 100 PSI keeping that check-ball in there pressed against it's seat, so I'd say it's pretty secure.

As for materials, I'd say anything other than PVC. I do have to say I think it's a little to late for "looking ahead" into winter. My feeling is that it's going to be a long... cold winter pretty much everywhere. It took a while to get here, but in the past 2 days it has dropped to about 40 degrees here in Louisiana. So go ahead and make it but you're gonna freeze your ass off soldering copper joints outside in this weather. :twisted:
