No, it wouldn't do that. It would shut off the supply from the CO2 bulb, and just let the small amount of air out of the pilot volume, which is how QEVs work. And also what makes them so good.

Ok. So here's a picture of what I think will be the basic setup. I'm not sure about the chamber yet, because I don't know whether it will be a small metal one or a bigger PVC chamber.

Do you know if they make a slide/sleeve valve that is pressure rated to 400 psi?if so, it would be EXACTLY what I've been looking for. I spent about a half hour on the net looking but haven't found anything yet

I have one that would take 400 psi, but it's not technically rated for it.

does it leak at all, or have any problems?

also, how are QEVs usually (idk the proper word vented,released,fired????) triggered?

my owly question is this, is this supposed to be a shoulder fire weapon? because (atleast by the diagram) you have no stock, and the body looks a little cumbersome to handle/shoot from.

No problems at all, I keep it lubed up with silicon grease to help it keep it moving smoothly, which also nicely reduces wear, and makes doubly sure there are no leaks.
I haven't ever taken it quite to 400, but I tested it (along with the rest of my trigger mech) nicely past my launcher's 320 psi max operation pressure of my launcher with a borrowed shock pump. I'd have no worries about it at 400, although I wouldn't take the whole launcher that far.

@Blackosprey: You'll need to put some way of regulating the CO2 pressure in there between the slide valve and quick change adaptor if you want to get consistency and safety. Other than that, no problems.

They make 1/8" slide valves that are used on paint ball gun remote lines, those would easily take 400 psi.

Ok the co2 is in the tank right you need to get it into you launcher at a certain pressure, so the remote line brings the co2 from the tank via the remote line to the on off mount. now you can stop or start the flow of co2 from the tank. Hence on/off then from the port on the on/off then co2 goes via the macro line (really strong tubing) to the regulator.
Now this is
where you either attach a ball valve or blow gun, assuming you chose the latter you can then open you co2 tank, switch the on/off to the on position,
and use to the blow gun to supply metered regulated bursts of co2 to the launcher. there is your gas system it will cost me about R1500,00 to build but , you might find the parts cheaper.
also i suggest you mount a gauge on your chamber just to confirm pressure.

So this is what the setup would be:

CO2 --- On/Off --- Regulator --- Pilot Valve --- Main Valve --- Chamber --- Main Valve --- Barrel

It wouldn't necessarily have to have to have the remote lines and macro lines would it?

The remote line is not necessary but the macro lines are it carries unregulated co2 from the on/off to the regulator. Have a look at the following

Here is a cheaper alternative use part 1 to attach a co2 tank or 12g
part 3 allows for shut-off and two is a regulator.
