Thursto wrote:Hey this program is great, i just used it, placed my laptop in the middle, pumped my gun up to 20psi (not alot i was in my room) and shot a nerf dart, and it says it shot at around 900fps or something, is that right??? i got a video of me doing it, so you can check it out, just need to upload it, and also ill get some more.
Cheers thursto
There is something wrong with either the program or the eyes reading the number (no offence to hyaalgard).
900fps at 20 psi? No fucking way.

Exactly what I was thinking. I dont think this program is well suited for pneumatic or combustion guns because there is too much noise on launch, if you are shooting at close targets then it is difficult to separate the launch from the splat using audio. This program must be taking readings from the beginning and end of the "WHOOOSH" sound and thinking that the projectile has already hit its target when it hasn't.

well anyone tried a shot with a little range with this software? I would, but i dont have the possibility before about december 1st.
And as i said in the first post, i havent tried it, so i dont know if its crap or not, and its intended purpose is for commercial airguns, not spudguns. just wanted to share this with you in case it could be usefull 8)

Well, I've had that privilege for a year already now - now I get to be a slightly older adult. Not many differences as to what I can do AFAIK.
In fact, in all the time I was 18 (Unsurprisingly, a year

) , I can only think of a couple of minor occasions when I've took advantage of my legal status.

Are you guys shooting outside? I imagine echo would throw this program off fairly easily. I'd try it in my basement but I don't have a microphone that'll work.
Edit @ Jack: is that butch in your avatar?

This program looks very interesting.
From the posts so far, it would be nice if folks would publish screen shots of the settings panel when they post results. That'll help eveyone figure out what the settings are for and help people double check results.
A 900 FPS nerf dart is not very likely.
A supersonic paintball is not very likely.

Yeah i know that, oviously i set the program wrong, or it doesntwork well for pneumatics at close range.

Thanks a bunch for posting the software! I still need to get a mice and stuff, but I look forward to using it instead of buying a paintball chronograph off of ebay for about 30$. This'll be great for my science project! (I'm testing C:B ratios of a hybrid)
Thanks again!

Why use it if the data is (or at least thought to be) inaccurate?

I thoght it is accurate, people just weren't using it correctly.

Sounds a little to inaccurate for me to bother with it.
