Pneumatics may be safer but i think that the fact that it could blow up in your hand's kind of adds some of the fun to shooting combustion launchers, but i would say pneumatics are all around better guns besides the wait but combustions are much funner to shoot.

Arg! Pneumatics arent safer! Rather that noobs first cannon is a combustion and generally dont have proper construction skills, its not the method in which it is shoot. *flush* Anyways ya I will agree that combustions are funner then pneumatics. Obviously the method of pneumatic firing is generally more powerful, but its the "BOOM" factor. (it changes everytime I say it) When using PG's I have noticed a few things that I like noise, distance, consturction challenge/ "newness" (sometimes countered by cost), and thats all I can think of.

Combustions are defintly funner. You got a "BOOM!" and a fireball compared to a "hissssss" and a little puff. More portable (appeals to younger users because of energy level). Easyer to build. I have my CS-X sitting on my porch and when ever I get bored I just go out there and shoot a couple GB's and come back in.

overpressurize the chamber? who has an air compressor that pumps a tank over 150 psi? Probably no one, that is because all typical air tools run under 100 PSI (air ratchet, paint gun, impact wrench etc) i think pneumatics are safer due to the fact that there is no flaming fuel involved for burnt eyebrows. But for portability and ease of use i definatly go with a combustion. If i was gonna show off a potato cannon i would pick up my combustion rather than my pneumatic just because its more practical to use. Dont have to lug around a bike pump/car tire pump.

When it comes to someone who isnt really impressed by a bbq clicker and water pipe thrown together by the regular amature i whip out my propane filled, stun gun ignited, dual spark, shoulder fired, rocket launcher i use for PVC rockets. note, the barrel is actually about a 3 feet longer, i cut the pic to fit it on my website

Mine goes up to 120, but did you ever think of other pressure sources? What about CO2 (800psi)? Hopefully that wasnt a attempt to "slam" me.

my compressor goes to 250psi so you can definetaly over pressurise the chamber

oops, forgot about CO2, and no i wasnt slammin ya dude. If you do have an air compressor that regulates over 135 psi its definatly an oddball, you cant go into a lowes or home cheapo and pick one up off the shelf that pumps over 150.

I like the combustions merely because they are truly portable and self-contained if built correctly. Tie a 50 pound bag of spuds to your belt (better get suspenders) and go for it.

With a pneumatic you are tied to a compressor one way or another.

i like combustions because of the simplicity of them.
and the fact that they r cheap, and easy to make

I like the combustions. Granted I am a pyromaniac (or thats what most people would refer to me as) so I am partial to flames and explosions. Also, that is all I have ever built so I am biased. And as for the dispute over safety between pneumo/combustion, I think it all boils down to the shooter and also the builder. Know your limits and the limits of your cannon(s).

i totally agree,i have 1 of each,and they both have their ovn dangers. i bet you 5 dollars that you cant singe all the hair off your arm with a pneumatic,but i find it hard to imagine a combustion's chamber rupturing,when used in normal conditions

I love both but if I had to pick one to shoot the rest of my life id go for combustion mainly because I like to add wires and buttons and tread propane torches, besides for me its all about the build its all I do, I once made a prototype cigarette lighter in one day at school I always have parts on me, any body like me?

im plannin on makin a bb sniper modeled after a m-82 sniper rifle. I want it to look just like it but i dont know what will give me teh most power for my limited space. Should i make it a pnuematic or a combustion.

I just finished making two pill bottle minis and a mini. Now i want to make a bb sniper modeled after a m-82 sniper rifle. I want it to look just like the m-82 so this limits my space to a confined area. which one should i make it, to give me the most power?

Hello all I do WWII re-enacting. 1st and for most i need some big help !!! I bought a Spanish 60 mm mortar for reenacting. The ontl 2 problems in which i face are # 1 ). how to propel? 2nd how to build a mortar rounf that flys around the 400-600 yrd range and explodes upon/before, or seconds after inpact. Now saying that the warheads we use in this hobby are not leathal more lie an m-80 .
