On a good day, 10 shots with this would take up the vast majority of all hours of daylight on a winter day. Lugging this stuff down to Low Island (my range), adds at least 1 hour for packing time, another 15 minutes or so over the regular setup time, and doubles the preparation time because I have to have spare EVERYTHING in case something goes wrong. And the people that run the park wouldn't like all the nails scattered about either.

Jello would be destroyed in the barrel by the 2000+ Gs of acceleration, as would the paintballs. This is a very serious valve we're talking about here.

A aluminum base ball bat, at anything.

I have one of those, but I'm not destroying a $100 bat just for giggles. And if I shot it at a wooden target, it'd go right through my shed, and then the neighbour's shed, and then his house...

@DYI: Sounds good, you could also try 0.2g as well.
But it is going to be quite something to clean up.

I should mention that in HEAL's barrel, paintballs undergo 12,000 Gs and come out the other end entirely intact. It's surprising the forces that things can undergo without being torn to bits.

I'm thinking about either getting a job lot of 5mm steel ball bearings, or a big bag of .2s myself soon, and having fun with "buckshot".
Perhaps I should start a thread of suggestions for my next HEAL video.

Nothing denser than the .12gs are available for airsoft around here. It never really caught on.

I think this thread has caught on so quickly because I've promoted the SCTBDC so much that people automatically associate me with it, kind of like schmanman and the SWAT gun, BTB and high pressure, Nova and custom machined parts, and, of course, JSR and his beloved epoxy. When I post a thread with a title like this, people just associate the two. I think the HEAL has become quite well known too, with the 6 pages of replies on its topic.

If I'm feeling rich, I might get a 1-1/4" barrel and shoot some supersonic ice slugs too. (1300+ fps)

I can't help but notice that this thread's title refers to what we want to see annihilated, not what we want to annihilate it with..............
Anyway, try shooting a small frozen turkey at a large frozen turkey. It IS Thanksgiving after all, isn't it?

I am well aware that Thanksgiving is actually on Thursday, but close enough.

Yes, some people are very well associated with their own favourite methods/launchers/materials - I certainly link you and the SCTBDC mentally.
I also think that UK members and copper are probably inextricably linked in the mind of many regulars here - we use a lot of it over here.

Supersonic ice slugs will be impressive if you can manage it.
I also meant to ask what takes all the time to limit you to 10 shots in a day. I can see the disc change taking a while, but that still seems a little slow, even given that.

I made ammo looking like a lawn dart before using a sharpend gutter spike and some polyurethane-I tried to shoot it thru a tree but it went just over half way (tree was maybe 3-4inches thick I think). So I want to see a tree cut in half, almost like a cartoon with a perfect bullect hole.

I'd like that too, but I would have to quadruple the chamber size, double the barrel length, and increase the porting to 2"... None of which I am willing/able to do.

Ripping a tree out of the ground by any means is not an option, and I probably can't do that to a decent sized tree anyway.

As said before, darts are good, but not when my shed is behind the target.

While the 10 shots/day was a very conservative estimate, the reload times on this are really, really bad. Moving quickly, with no target cleanup or broken parts, I have to:
1. Use 2 pipe wrenches to take apart the unions
2. Unscrew both unions, and detach bushing from barrel
3. Take body of launcher off of stand and carefully place burst disk on opening
4. Attach main chamber to valve setup with first union
5. Load projectile(s) with wadding through breech
6. Reattach bushing to breech
7. Wrestle entire 30 pound, 5' long setup back onto stand, and line up with union
8. Carefully line up main body with union half on breech (usually takes at least 5 minutes)
9. Tighten both unions as far as possible with two (18") pipe wrenches
10. Attach nitrogen quick-connect onto back fill valve
11. Attach bike pump hose with shrader valve
12. Pressurise pilot to 150 psi
13. Pressurise main chamber to 400-450 psi
14. Turn of nitrogen tank shutoff valve
15. Aim at target, pull trigger
16. Stand in awe for at least 1 minute
15. Repeat as necessary
This also takes at least two people to accomplish
