Bigger might not all ways be better, just like it's the motion of the ocean not the size of the ship but I'm telling you it sure would take a long time to get across an ocean in a row boat
.
Pimpin ammo + small hybrid = extacey.
Could you machine a small hybrid using a sphere shaped combustion chamber?I'm sure you could do it rather easily with your tools. There are a few aspects of performance that you could get out of a spherical chamber.[/quote]

Thanks for all the great comments guys
GREAT news, Brassy is now operational
I have tested up to 4x at which the report is similar to a .22 firing shorts. (Even with a silencer attached)
Thanks again to Fnord for his super glue tip, it worked a treat
I plan on mixes up to 6-7x.
Anyone want to GGDT this for me? i.d. 29mm x 65mm (47mls) barrel 12.7mm x 880mm long (approx 100mls). GGDT at a 3x mix please.
I'll do my best to have damage pics up this afternoon.
Cheers. Nova

I might have to make myself a small, handhelled hybrid Pellet rifle. I feel like if i can make the burst-disks easily changeable and the gun reliable it would be a blast to shoot.
anyway, im exited for the results. This thing looks like it could pack a serious punch.

Hey VH, this gun has no "union" for a burst disc, i simply put a layer of packing tape on the face of the front union. Holds up to 100psi and is easy to change, i can fire this once every minute with a compressor, maybe once every two minutes with a pump.
I just put a house nail clean through 12mm polycarbonate at a three times mix

Didn't know what the exact pressure for 3x is, so I just did a few different ones.
GGDT:
5 gram projectile
air @ 2500 F
250psi- 545 fps, 51 Ft-lbs
300psi- 599 fps, 61 Ft-lbs
350psi- 648 fps, 72 Ft-lbs
400psi- 693 fps, 82 Ft-lbs
450psi- 735 fps, 93 Ft-lbs

Nova- i PMed you about this, but you may not have gotten it, where do you get that two part polyurethane stuff that you make your Pimpin' Ammo out of? Can you get it off of mcmaster ? Thanks Nova
K back on topic... 3x mix- what pressure is that? about 340 PSI? I'll GGDT it if i can get the proper pressure.
EDIT: Dangit Fnord! you beat me to it

wow. Post a vid with some good sound, Crazy editing, and Heavy Metal. Just turn the heavy metal off when you fire so i can hear the sound of the blast.....
and make a good supressor. I feel like hybrids are the best test bed for home-built supressors. if it can make a hybrid quiter, it will make anything quiter.
ANYWAY, is that really all you have to do to fire this thing? wow. i REALLY might make one of these now. i even have an idea for a Metering device.
basically, its a properly mixed chamber of galvanized steel. to load the cannon, simply attatch the QDC and then disconnect it when its filled. then fire!.
im not sure how safe that is, or how well it will work. but still, good work.

http://www.erapol.com.au/about_pu/glossary.html
That's where we get our poly from, but it is an Australian based company.
There would be numerous suppliers in America is should imagine, have a google.
Thanks for those figures too Fnord.

Nice to see that the superglue worked. So how long until we see some pictures up and some videos?
Could you add a way of measuring the peak pressure achieved in the chamber? As I'm always interested in the pressures created.Maybe you could experiment with some different types or thicknesses of burst disc material and see if there is a noticeable difference between different material used, hybrid info is always useful.
You need an Aussie Flag in your Sig!Were abouts from this land are you from?

Damage pics will be posted in about 2 hours. I'm from Newcastle, born in Sydney. I am unable to retrieve footage from my dv recorder, i'm somewhat "Technically Challenged"

My computer just does not recognise when i hook up dv.
To measure the peak pressure i would need some kind of checkvalve and a high pressure gauge i guess, might happen one day.
I have now tested to 6x

Feels like a small calibre handgun- it's so freakin cool i could almost kiss my dog!
I'll work on the Aussie flag too RNA.
Blowey, i haven't checked that poly yet, i'll pm you later.
BTW, my rounds weigh 3.5 grams, so i guesstimate around 750fps at a 5x mix. Maybe a bit generous though.
