Yes, I drilled 2x2 bricks out and used them as baffle spacers for a suppressor.

It does make sense to use all rubber for the piston. I'm wondering if it would be optional for a larger launcher, say 1.5" barrel.

The only way I can see this is to glue several pieces of washers together, for I've never found any solid rubber that would work for a size such as this. My concern would be the weight of the piston and friction caused by the rubber (which may be solved bu lubing).

Did anyone used to have K'nex? i can see that being useful and the rods are 6mm so i might sharpen some and shoot them out of my 6mm 'sniper' (when i finish it)

and as for the rubber pistons i might try it at some point when i decide it is time to make a large bore launcher... but how much better is it than epoxy, does epoxy need lubing like rubber pistons and how does the wieght compare?

edit: and another use for lego! making realy annoying things :D

i made this a few years ago to annoy my little brother with and it turned out to be quite powerful, it shoots an AA battery 5m but AAs are wuite heavy so its pretty impressive :D
