THe pilot is 1/8 npt... Not sure what you mean by Solenoid? They do not come with a Noid.

According to research these valves go up to 125 PSI water/inert gas. I bought 2

. I officially can't buy anything anymore. My wallet has been taking a beating lately, but I'm not about to pay 120 bucks for a valve like that. Only other thing that comes close is Orbits 2" FIP Inline that you can order from Home Depot for $75, all you gotta do is unscrew the flow control handle and attach a pilot.

on the flex kleeney site they are $70. I bought one just because of the deal. maybe i'll make a marble gun out of it

yeah i can get a 1" sprinkler for like $15. I can't believe there are still any left

dewey-1, I know you can't buy a 1 inch sprinkler for $10, but these Asco's are really $18 including shipping, for each additional one you tack on $8 as well. That said I already bought two of those Asco valves and I know sprinklers take modding, I have 6 of them! Oh and the 2 inch sprinkler probably has a higher cfm because of the larger port size. I'm guessing 130 cfm or so not the 85 of the 1.5". Besides the diaphragm in the Asco's I ordered are rated to 125psig not the 150psig the Orbit is. Faster firing, no doubt; higher volume, I don't think so. I've been doing this for three years now and resisted joining these forums so I wouldn't get grilled by people like you. Besides I can always order a larger valve from someplace if you're worried about cfm, I believe the largest port size thats easy to find is a 3 inch. Should the need arise I have more than enough engineer friends that could design a valve with me and the resources to machine one from cast iron. Heck I could weld one up from good plate. Just don't tell me my business because of my post counter. I've been building robots a lot longer than I have cannons and 4hp robots are a lot tougher than cannons to build and control.

A sprinkler valve has equalization holes too, that doesn't mean it fills from the pilot. That equalization hole is so small that it would be slow going if you were filling from the pilot
I still think it is probably filled from the chamber, but I am surprised by the lack of springs. Perhaps the diaphragm shape eliminates the need for a spring.
From one of the spec sheets.
When the remote pilot valve opens, pressure above the pilot diaphragm and main diaphragm is released allowing main line pressure to act against the undersides of the diaphragms, opening the main valve orifice. When the pilot valve closes, main line pressure bleeds to the top of the pilot and main diaphragms, closing the main orifice.
Main line pressure would be the chamber pressure in our case.

Awesome find! I had a giant valve like that too, 1.5 inch i think. It's still down in my shop waiting to be modded.
