yea and it gets VERY hot if any of you guys have tried it and touched the bottle afterwards it would be hot

If you had an aluminum foil burst disk it would be kind of ironic.

Why not have something of a stopper. You would add the acid to a chamber filled with aluminum foil from a hole in the side of the chamber. Then screw a metal cap back in place. In the barrel there would be a metal ball barring preferably not aluminum would be held in place by an o-ring. Before the chamber explodes the ball would be shot out with all of the built up pressure.

But i think the ball would come out before it explodes becuase the pressure will biuld up and the ball will slip out before it explodes

Uh, guys, you seem to be forgetting. "The Works" has HCl in it. And your cannon is metal. HCl eats metal, hence, "The Works" will eat your cannon alive, so to speak. Aluminum burst disk: gone, metal fittings: gone, metal cap: gone, metal chamber: not gone, but definitely weakened. Weakened means more likely to fail, which means hydrochloric acid in a pressurized environment will be released along with hot hydrogen, all with you standing nearby.

my idea using this reaction is to try to get to auto ignition pressures.
because if we know the pressure we need then we can calculate all the amounts of reactants.
So my idea is:
1. Add strip of Al in Copper chamber and secure my adding a magnet on the inside and outside of chamber.
2. Flip chamber so AL is on the top of it and add correct amount of HCl to chamber and seal chamber
3. Add calculated amount of O2 and release magnet to drop Al into HCl
4. Run like hell and wait for cannon to go off

OK, copper won't dissolve, correct. But aluminum isn't affected by magnets.

that is why you put one below it then one on the outside of the chamber

Oh, missed that. You sure the magnet won't dissolve? I don't know about them. Hate to have to replace them.

well, i dont know reduction potentials of rare earth elements but i think they would dissolve so maybe using like an iron nail on the inside, something cheap

I was also thinking you could get some neodymium magnets with plastic coatings. Those shouldn't dissolve.

oh all mine are Ni coated i didnt know you could get them plastic coated, if so they would be what to get and it would make the process practicle

Well nickel doesn't react terribly fast with HCl apparently, but I wouldn't do it anyway. I don't remember where you can get them that are plastic coated, I just remember seeing them in a few places.

Indeed, there is always room for more entrants. Though I have to say, in my 9th grade science class we hooked up a funnel to a gas line, dipped it in bubble solution and used it to blow bubbles.
