thats one of the things i was thning abot using, do you think epoxy combined with something like steel wool or mesh would make a strong enough piston for use i a qev at 400psi or will there be a risk of chipping or cracking?If you mixed epoxy with steel wool you'd have a godawfully tough substance.

wouldn't a solid disc made from rubber work better? you could add something to make it more stiff, like glueing it with a smaller steel disc... but it would be better if JSR commented on this...
and for that a solid rubber disc would work very well (thats why they already have them in 
) but it would be hard making a perfect disc 
so i am exploring other ideas like an epoxy piston which would need reinforcement or a plastic piston (teflon maybe) cut from a rod (which would solve the 'perfect disc' problem) but there are many things i need to think about first like the thickness of the piston already in the qev and if its worth increasing the thickness for use with higher pressures etc. maybe i will open up my qev tomorow and have a look but as i do not want to invade SPG's thread any longer if you wish to discuss this more can you please post in my '400psi ultra valve' thread
