Find a pill bottle that fits the pipe and fill it with flour. Then if you shoot it at a solid target, it makes a giant white cloud!

It looks really cool too.

I don't know if you like this or not but i do it on all my spud gun barrels- i take about a 2 foot section of extra barrel of that kind (1.5") and get news paper all wet, then i make chunks of them the size of them down the extra barrel and pack them tight with my ram round and let them set for like a day. then when you take them out you have about 5-8 ( depending on size) perfect ammo or wads because they are heavy from the water yet still compact. you can then wrap them in duct tape for reuse.

good idea for quick wadding, sort of like replacing a burst disk but for the ammunition and not the launcher, that'll be good in hot combat scenarios

what i use in my 1.5" is tennis balls. Before you call me a nub and tell me that they are 2.5", there are these little tennis balls for cats. they fit perfectly into a 1.5" barrel. The ones that I got were "nuclear strength catnip balls" and i had to soak them in a tub with tons of Joy lemon soap for a week to even be able to stand being in the same room as them, but they work wonders. I would suggest filling them with cement or something of the sort if you want them to go very far though.

Well, in terms of "fitting tightly and going a pretty good distance", you can't beat custom machined, tungsten carbide Armor Piercing Fin Stabilised Discarding Sabot (APFSDS) rounds. Of course, they might not fit in with your budget...

how much would it cost

More money than you make in a year, probably, and that's just for the materials. Machining would likely be more money than you will ever see in your life. I was being sarcastic, seeing as you said that you "just wanted something that fits tightly and goes a good distance".

Well, they could be homemade if you somehow had a bunch of tungsten carbide bar stock sitting around and a kickass CNC lathe at your disposal, along with some diamond toolbits. Hope springs eternal...

Damn and blast, I wouldn't have thrown out my tungsten carbide rods, diamond toolbits and CNC lathe if I knew I could make APDSFS darts with them.
If only I'd found out two weeks ago.
