My first large cannon

Cannons powered by pneumatic pressure (compressed gas) using a valve or other release.

Is it cool?

Yes!

No, of course not all I care about is efficiant valves and damage and I eat poo.

Nova, as much as I hate to rain on your parade, with the exact specs he quotes, assuming 100ms opening (slow because it's a PVC BV), the 72" barrel, and a 200 gram projectile with a drag coefficient of 0.5, GGDT predicts exactly 800 feet.
Almost uncanny, isn't it?

With a 20' barrel he'd roughly double the range, which really isn't worth it.

spudchucker do us a favor measure the distance! I thought you said it was for distance- then why are you shooting at signs?

Wouldn't that classify as destruction!

depends on the ammo, temperature, wind, angle and how you measure.

At an operating pressure of 60psi with your 6' barrel, a D cell as ammo i would predict *looks into Crystal ball* a distance of around 400', that is being generous.
Please don't think that i am trying to erk you mate, i just don't like when numbers get thrown around- i have a hard enough time trying to understand them as they are.

Edit- DYI, i like rain, i guess the only thing for spudchucker to do is test the distance achieved, with either a tape measure or a walker wheel.
