I forgot to mention that even if you shot at the attacker and hit him/her, the forward momentum of the attacker charing you would probably reach the shooter with enough force to tackle / injure the shooter.

They don't just up and stop like the movies and video games...

Not to mention if you shoot them with a standard caliber CW pistol they probably will have some fight left to them...

Another more specialised weapon intended for use in a similar manner is the sleeve gun developed from the Welrod piston.

I have no idea when this film"Munich" came out, though...the method has been widely known by individuals of certain persuasions and lifestyles for many years... gotta go,kids just woke up.

There is no specific mention of this method in the movie, however it is described in this 1984 book which the film is based on. The use of reduced loads in order to give a quieter shot is well known, sometime's called the cat's sneeze.

in the gun vs. knife situtation i know what i would rather have... the gun would give a phycological advantage and also the fact that you have the option of firing off multiple shots if someone carrys on coming at you after the first shot... or you could put it one shot then run away

Re loaders do it all the time not so much to conceal a shot but to reduce the weight of the bullet and the powder charge to produce ammo that doesn't give such a stiff kick for target practicing.
I've seen .22 rounds that fire off of the primer alone. Theres no extra powder. The bullet only moves at 500 fps but its enough to be lethal at close range with an accurate shot placement.

This is no secret to spudders, it's common knowledge that a longer barrel for a given chamber size and pressure will give a quieter shot. The thing is that for this to be effective, you've need a long barrel that is usually impractical, like the Diller "Quiet Gun"

yeah I know... I build a spudgun with a relatively long barrel and small chamber sometime ago and it was working to some extent... I have to try it again...

Probably, it's the best example I can think of to illustrate the "silent without a silencer" philosophy. Of course if you want a quiet shotgun there are cooler ways of going about it

My brother and I are both bouncers:

Some guy tried to shoot my brother once with a .22 .He fired off a few rounds and only just missed my brothers' head.My brothers colleage was hit in the back an inch from his lower spine.
The shooter was later cought by police and they confiscated the weapon AND a Scorpion machine pistol he had in his car ( good thing he only used the .22!!)

A year later his colleage was attacked by a guy with a knife.
The bouncer was wearing a vest BTW
During the struggle the attacker severed this guys biceps ( cut clean through!)
My brother ended up nearly breaking the attackers neck, but he got him down

His colleage almost died of bloodloss.


Knife...gun.. whatever man...

The bottom line is it really doesn't matter what weapons we or they use. Its how one uses it. They can be a tool for good and for bad. Its a sad world we live in where we would even have to talk about a topic like this.

I'm glad everything turned okay for your brother and your brother friends. Hopefully things healed up okay.

Ok, lets examine this video. As far as I can tell the one who wields the knife is the defender. He would have to pack this knife in full view of the public which would be illegal in most states. Its to big for any practical use. I.e a box opener, or cooking. So its pretty much useless unless he does bushwhacking on a regular basis. And completely defeats the purpose of a concealed weapon.

The gun man is posed to shoot already so he's probably already dead. Secondly if he had missed he just through away a perfectly good knife and the attacker would get a shot off... he'd be dead.

If it was an attacker with the knife it would be another instance in where the knife won out...or it would be an instant where the defender with a pistol won out. Either way you would have to practice a long to time to get the knife to stick consistently.

Movies like this just tick me off because the do not in any way reflect the practicality of whats being shown. Sure, I can shoot targets all day but under a high stress situation I don't know how I would preform...most of us here wouldn't know what to do... Its all speculation... the only ones who know how to react in situations like that are those who have been there.
