I have tried to shoot a lacrosse ball out of 2.5" electrical conduit before and it doesn't work. The lacrosse ball was just slightly too big to fit in the barrel. I think your best bet would be 3" pipe with wadding, but a racquetball fits well in 2.5" pipe, with a little bit of wadding. (I think they have a diameter of around 2.25")

2.5" SCH 10 has an ID of 2.635", although I think you'd be better off using tube for this application, as you can get it in a much wider variety of sizes.

A real cricket ball is practically a lump of wood, or at least it fells like that in your hands, and when hit from a bat, bouncing a bit, and slowing down, it still feels like an iron sphere when it smashes your knee.

I think it would work for taking down castles or something.

I would put some wadding behind it though, cricket balls have 4 seams around them, stabilizes them and good for sprinning, but they will compromise your seal.

okay I went to lowes with that cricket ball and tryed to see if it fit in the 2.5in electrical pipe which is .005in diameter away from 2.5in sch40pvc.
It fit almost perfect.
it was a little loose but could easialy be fixed with some wadding or 2.5in sch80 which would probably give them a nice tight fit.

Yeahh.... I've already talked about using lacrosse balls.... The title of the thread was TB goes to LB.... And I get them to fit well in some 2.5" pipe off mcmaster..... Yes, there is quite a bit of recoil.... But I was able to get some through half inch plywood

Recoil is going to be based purely on the amount of mass and its velocity being projected. 5 ounces isn't going to be producing world record recoil out of normal spud flinging machines.

if you think that would create a lot of recoil then you should try and fire some 2in solid steel ammo weighing 10lbs out of a powerful launcher and you will never think of kick the same way again(launched out of the KAMG didnt go far or fast but it blew itself out of my hands and back 5ft and this is with a heavy metal gun a light pvc would be a different story.

thats nothing, i once had my 3" barrel stuffed to the max with heavy water laden snow... turns out the side of our garage isnt rated for 1" 1/4" pvc flying through it, we now have a gigantic hole where my cannon flew through the entire garage, more than a 12 gauge? i think so. well i know so actually i have fired them for a while, i went into the garage and saw the end sticking out and and said..... crap... lol well our garage is 3, 1/2 inch boards with insulation and siding. you be the judge of how powerful that blast was. sounded like a jet engine exploding alongside 100 tons of tnt

So your telling me that both ends of the spudgun are dangerous eh?

I thought I just had to watch out for the end with the (intentional) hole in it.

Just be sure that when you are launching a lacrosse ball ( or anything somewhat heavy) be careful and hold the gun.... I made that mistake and was loosely holding the gun and had the majority of my support against the blowgun that was the trigger.... But what happened was there was a lot of recoil so it ripped out my trigger, and I had to go back in and epoxy the thing back in for it had removed the threads and barely fit.... So be careful and hold the chamber more when shooting something you would expect to have a lot of recoil

no its just that it was the first time with my ne4w barrel and the new cannon which was only a week old.... wasnt used to so much power.. also went up to 1" 1/4" ball valve sop it let a lot more air out faster. but no actually i do play with a lot of exploding toys and rockets

EDIT: i forgot to add that if you are shooting something and you have a car useful. use the tires as a support system to help with the recoil.

well you know how a soda bottle or a water bottle fits well into a 3" barrel? well check this out.. i fired a couple of these the other day out of my 3" barrel and had some fun doing it...

only ours was waaaaay bigger
