Heh, we have a rule of thumb at the office (For those not aware, my day job is testing rocket motors for the military.)....


If you walk up to your test stand and it's damaged but you can repair it; that was a case failure.

If you walk up to your test stand and it's damaged beyond repair; that was a deflagration.

If you walk up to your test stand and... you can't *find* your test stand; that was a detonation!

Is the brief flash after each detonation caused by suck back through the exhaust pipe?
