hey man, i spent a long time in the forums trying to get how piston guns worked, sorry if i didnt realize the pilot area had to be that that small lol.

ya ima have to redo that whole back peice i think. i don't know if the unscewable part is really worth it, since the different inside diameter makes me have to make the piston weird, i didn't mention that before.

i think ill extend the back of the chamber a little bit for the piston, and stick a 4"-1" bushing assembly on to save the ball valve, and mount the schrader valve somewhere in there. pity i dont have the threading tools down here >.<

i would have gone with the sprinkler valve in the first place, it looked the easiest, cept i don't think i could get one down here, im in the virgin islands, alot of places don't like to ship to us =( so i went for the piston instead

Its a good thing you went with a piston, they have way more power then a sprinkler would ever have

I think Starman was talking about using the sprinkler valve for the pilot valve, not the actual main valve, which would be a big improvement, if you could get one. Home Depot should carry them.

Lose the "Y". You don't need it. If you have a threader, thread the schrader into the pipe just behind the "new" bushing you need to replace the dwv reducer.. I couldn't find a 4" to 1" bushing, so I went with a 4" - 2" bushing, then a 2" - 1" bushing, piloting with a 1" sprinkler valve modded.

I tried the "threaded" approach to accessing the piston for maintainence. I couldn't get it to seal like I wanted. I instead went to a slip bushing. I just glued a section of pipe into the back of the tee which housed my piston. I then bolted it on with four small bolts with sealant. All I have to do is take the bolts out, and slip off the bushing/pilot valve for access.

still you can just drill a hole in then put on lots of epoxy... thats what I did and I haven't been shot with a supersonic schrader valve... yet...

Gahh, when screws or threaded shraders pop out it wont even be strong, there is so little surface area for the air to act on.

exactly why it is safe to epoxy in the valve in the first place, there is only around 1/10 to 1/20 of you psi in pounds of force pushing on it, so the glue doesnt even have to be that strong to stay in

Yes I was talking about replacing the PVC ball valve pilot in the rear with a sprinkler valve. You're on the right track going with a piston, just be prepared to fiddle with it some to get it right.

Mr.C you should send that to every new member who joins, so we wouldn't have so many post about is this dwv?, OMG I I USED DWV!!, and so on.

Surely they have a 7/16 drill bit and a 1/4" NTP tap available somewhere there. Not at the corner drugstore but it isn't plutonium either.

I could see sprinkler valves being irrelevant there...mucho grande rainfall in the caribbean...

LOL... It's just the image of a schrader buried up in my forehead.. is the reason I either place a nut on the inside of the chamber, or epoxy it in...

remade the whole pilot end and plugged the piston, and it still wont seal >.<

ive tried it with a nice bicycle pump and a 125psi compressor, no dice.
