The pic looks suspicious. The blood is certainly fake. Also, a blast powerful enough to strip the skin and meat so cleanly off like this would have blown his hand off.

The whole setup doesn't pass the smell test....

starman, i think you are right
at first glance it looks real but when you look at it a little closer it looks really fake

well I wouldn't say that blood looks fake... it's ok to me (not that I like what i see)
I have to agree with starman that it looks a bit suspicios
a blast powerful enough to strip the skin like this would have blown his hand off.
but after I'e seen similar pictures posted by some member here (ragnarok ?) I suppose it can be real

A Hollywood hand job (lol) like that just for a photograph? It seems unlikely. Detail like that can only come from human anatomy. Plus following back to the uploader reveals that it's a picture taken by a medical student. http://www.angelfire.com/amiga2/iuhs/bl ... id=1056145

Now that is a load of bollocks.
It was some ridiculous measurement made up by some fools who thought that it can be compared to Dynamite. Saying a 'stick' of Dynamite is like saying how long is a piece of string..

Edit: Ahh, my younger days...video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=7723 ... &plindex=1

And a medical student wouldn't have access to human anatomy, ie. bones, etc. to setup a shot like this?

The damage is way overkill for a firecracker, a more powerful explosive would have blown the fingers off not just stripped 2 of them clean. The blood IS fake. If you think that blood is real, you haven't seen enough real blood. Also the blood pools are way too neat.... note no smears. Where's the towels, where's the tourniquet to keep him from bleeding to death...

Also looks a little third-worldish...maybe even a propaganda shot.

Well I did a quick search on google and cross referenced it. Isn't the dynamite comparison supposed to be the expanding gas velocity or something like that?

well starman - there are different types of blood you know... and that picture is ok I've seen similar before... look at all the details... burns stop bleeding so it isn't always needed to have all those towels and stuff

ahhh here it is -> http://www.nobombs.net/brucel/explosivegraphics.html

Yeah... That shot is faked. A blast powerful to strip the skin off completely would have shattered the bones which seem so perfectly intact in the picture. And also the blood, it isn't real. There should be smears where there are only neat pools in the picture.

And the dynamite: what he means is, the longer and wider the stick of dynamite, the more energy it contains, and I believe that everyone is referring to energy release here.

He was made to appear to be bleeding....in a real situation there would have been towels and tourniquent...and a class 1 rating in the ER (immediately getting the last bed) and emergency surgery. Burns would've been the least of this guys worries.

sthorne: I want to cry due to the pain, but I want to laugh due to the stupidity.

Next time, hold it in your teeth. :D

JK: Please don't. Actually, just ignore what I said.

well check this.... http://www.nobombs.net/brucel/explosivegraphics.html
looks similar ? well I think it does.... blood isn't something that looks fake on this picture - I personaly got seriously injured twice and once blood was like on this picture and the second instance it was thicker and more dark so IMO blood is ok :D

The first one looks a little dubious...his leg would be all kinds of black and blue and swollen with that kind of trauma to his thigh...just looks a little too comfortable there...but the others were real...and have very little resemblance to mr. skeleton hand man above.

Well I'm not argueing that the picture is real. I'm not sure of that. But if I were to pick a side I would say it's real. There are multiple reasons. The first is I can't tell the difference between prop blood and real blood other than real blood will scab and turn brown, which there is no evidence of. The second is looking at the source of the picture. The person who took it is clearly a medical student and has other pictures of the same type and knows what he is talking about (I think, I'm not a doctor) on his site. The third is determinig whether or not the hand is real just by looking at it. Ligaments, skin, and bone are all there. Also notice the burn marks on the inside of the hand. Dirty finger nails also adds to the credibility because that is a trait that a lot of people would look over if making a prop. The reason why it may look fake is because it has probably been cleaned in prep for surgery (hence no bandages). That's my two cents on this photo. Argue as you may but this is my opinion and I will no longer engage in this. (mostly due to lazyness.)
