And I don’t quite agree with you. If they don’t like America’s acknowledgement of the God given right to bare arms they should:

All the bill of rights does, the Second Amendment included, is acknowledge Man’s God Given Rights.

No one's saying anything ill against Charlton Heston or anything otherwise, JSR just made a point that it's a shame that people are using this death to fight against gun lobbyists.

Locking this topic will not bring Charleton Heston back so who cares ?
Perhaps people grieve differently. myself, I agree with Poland and we are grieving his loss.

There is nothing more offensive than talking down someone’s beliefs at their memorial.

Yes and no, yes they are an “anti-Christ” in the sense that they are against God, but no they’re not “The Anti-Christ” as described in revelation, I believe that Anti-Christ was a metaphor speaking of Man’s general opposition to God, like when the took the Law (the Ten Commandments statue) out of the courthouse in the name of “separation of church and state”, which I would like to know where, exactly that is found in the constitution, closes thing I can find is The First Amendment which says something to the effect of:
“Congress shall make no act to establish a religion, nor prohibit the free exercise there of…”


And I don’t know about you but I will never lose my freedom, they cannot take away somthgin' given to me by the Good Lord him self.

It's not really. But some people don't believe in God, and then you drag religion into it, and then politics with the whole 'right to bear arms' thing, and it goes on and on. Politics and religion, we don't need it.

This thread is to discuss his legacy and his passing, not to argue what he stood for.

He seems like somewhat of an American icon, a household name to Americans. He hasn't really done much, by the looks, internationally apart from movies.

So unless you're one helluva movie buff, or born 40 years ago, I doubt that many people would know who he is outside America.

Edit: Looking at the NZ herald online, it doesn't even make it in the top 20 stories, and is the last story on the Entertainment coloumn along with Tom Cruise suing someone.

Yeah just part of my sarcastic humor. I agree, he would be virtually unknown to people even in America under 25 yrs or so, unless they are politically inclined....something most 25s and under aren't usually much interested in.

Yeah I was skimming that when I wrote that post.

You can discuss his legacy as I said, but for those who are passionate, try and not stir trouble with politics and religion.

Discussing how he spoke out against racism etc, is OK, but anything controversal or something people could get offended by is obviously not going to flow. And by the looks of things some of his religious and political views are stirring trouble.

Archery was once the sport of kings.
The bow was a mechanical device that was physically triggered by the arm.
The next more advanced version was the crossbow.
Triggered by the physical force of moving a finger instead of the arm. The crossbow became more advanced and rather than have a bow limb, it had a spring.
The arrow or bolt was reduced to a metal firing pin.
It was triggered by the finger physically and the bolt struck a primer combining a new chemical force but the bolt came out as a "bullet".
That was the next advance.
Similar advances include the airgun or even spud gun.
I was priveledged to experience that same sport at a young age, Learning safety and marksmanship and American heritage because of the generousity of Charleton Heston.
I am sure he is in a better place.
It is sadenning that great men like him can be so misunderstood or ever direspected by the ignorant and unfortunately common .
