triple barrel thoughts?

The effect of an early exit has been exaggerated in this thread.

In reality, it doesn't matter, because the reduced-pressure-'wave' does not have time (only traveling at the speed of sound) to reach the projectile in the other tubes before they exit too.

I've covered this before in more detail.

I remember DR made a triple barrel cannon that shot arrows. It was pretty neat, it used 3 sprinkler valves with one main pilot valve. The other valves were piloted in series by the first sprinkler valve. I don't remember seeing his post in the archives, but it would provide some inspiration.

Or you could carry on and continue with a single valve design, as it would be a tight fit with those three barrels and fittings on each one when they are in the pipe like that.

btw, what happened to DR?

Thanks for your thoughts everyone, they are much appreciated.
Last night i went through with my plan and built the barrel (or should i say barrels?) and i am very happy with the end result!

Once i inserted the 15mm pipes and was happy with their position I filled the gaps with an expanding sealant then some epoxy putty on top to give it a hardened paintable exterior.

I only had one shot with it before i painted it tonight (still waiting for it to dry :x ) and it went really well- the marbles i shot at the target which was about 25 meters away hit together within a 30cm area.

Here are some pics. Enjoy!

Nicely done! It looks pretty professional (and even a bit like a mini-gun, albeit one with only three barrels).
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

That's exactly what I was thinking. Although, some of the AH-1 Cobras have a 3-barreled 20mm gating gun.

Looks great so far!

Awesome!
The looks of it are very very impressive :D
Reminds me of the gattling gun on the warthog of the game Halo, that one also has 3 barrels.

Hahaha that looks awesome! No problem with any fittings then?
