Well, if we are getting picky, 30cm is actually 4.8ish mm short of a US foot.

That depends.......... Here in Denmark a foot, or "en fod" is actually over 30cm. I cant remember what it is exactly, but i know its more than 30cm
I really dont understand why units with the same names differ in sizes around the world
Im not exactly sure, but i believe there is more than one "kind" on inches too?

O, Well here in the us the ruler goes up to 30cm and 12 in which are supposed to equal a foot.
