that is the exact point Mark! we does not know of all the countless hybrid builders in this enormous world.

and when a 60g projectile gets from zero to 1000fps in 80" there will allways be like Newton said "each and every action, has an equal and opposite reaction" it takes the same amount of energy as if you was going to shoot at the front of the chamber (chamber armoured with steel to spread the energy)

Chances are if they're building a hybird they'd come here. If not, they must really know their stuff and probably have made it from metal or PVC with a low mix.

Only spudgunners construct cannons out of plastic...

If someone is making a hybrid cannon while not being a spudgunner (and thus not visiting this site) he'll probably built it out of metal.

That's what I meant. But there is a chance of it being made from PVC if they see a third party website. I seriously doubt they will dream it up all by themselves. But chances are that third party website would use PVC if it's old.

So I highly doubt there are many hybrid spudgun cannons in existance beyond Spudfiles, UKSGC and that french forum.

i can tell you a "story" MC

when i built my hybrid i had it standing in the shop. my dad got some interesting average snowmobile customers and they got hooked of the DDT danger in a hybrid vessel so the hybrid is not so hard to think out that everybody will have it to be like.

they have never ever thought of building a homemade gun but they could see how it worked and knew of DDT and they worked with wood for their living.

and one of my friends is going to build a first cannon in a while and guess what.. it is a hybrid. (i helped him with the materials and stuff and i will always take care when he is shooting it because it will be at my shop and will be fired here)

Yes but they were exposed to the idea, you usually just don't come up with it on the spot, and if you do you'll probably either do some research or already be smarter enough not to use PVC as a safety factor.

And for your friend, well anyone here could build a hybrid as their first, nothing special, as long as you've done your research. I think Nova built a hybrid as his first, and some others.

they understanded the gun without any explanation at all and that pretty much means they could have come up with it if they had the interest.

my friend saw my hybrid when i shot it and said "oh i want to build one that can do that" and here we go (that had no meaning at all)

So what? Fuel/Air explosives work on the very same principle, understand that and a hybird isn't difficult at all. Just as long as you work out the metering.

My point is, if they understand how it works of the block, they will know the dangers and very likely not use PVC.

you have seen PVC hybrids so not everyone cares that much.. and when that is said not everyone post their cannons here
