I don't have time to make one of my own, as I have a presentation to make up, and am going to be gone for the next three days, I was just asking to see if anyone has already made one that I could use.

Go to the spudwiki, there is one there! Well, not an animation, but some good illustration made by an unknown caring sf member.

Two things wrong...

1) No surface area that is exposed to pressure on the face of the piston. It will not open.

2) It's very dark, if you make it again bring the barrel into the middle of the tee, make it smaller then the sealing face, add in a seperate pilot valve too. So you have a fill and pilot valve. Also slow it down. :)

Edit: Oh and generally pistons aren't normally closed, start with the piston against the end cap. The check valve is a nice touch, not sure if it will confuse though.

Grrr... making you happy will never be easy... here is a nice new one, which is good enough to demonstrate how it works...

I hate to be picky, but the barrel should be smaller, so that one can see more clearly how there is pressure on the leading edge of the piston, pushing it back when you dump the pressure behind it.
I must say though, absolutely great work. I was into Flash animation for a while, but never got very good at it. Thanks for taking your time to do this!

edit: GRRRR! I cant figure out how to DL it... when I right click on it I dont get any useful options.

I did make a quick one for This but it was rushed and could've come out a bit better.

I guess I could've added a projectile in the graphic... oops

I just made this tonight. I'll be using it for my new 2" piston how-to that i'll be making in a few days. Way better then my old one.

I made it in three different speeds, 12fps, 5fps and 2fps.

Edit: Wow the quality is pretty shotty, oh well you get the point.

Edit 2: You have to click on them btw. Wonder why they came out so bad? They're fine in Flash MX. I'll see if I can upgrade the quality because I think it shrunk the pixel size which made it look bad.

Let me know if you want them, and if so which ones. I'll see if I can make the quality a lot better.

That is exactly like Clide's slider, except without the sleeve valve pilot/fill. Good animation though, it just looks kinda funny before you click full view.

Nice copper QEV gun Lentamentalisk, its very clean.

Yeah thanks, on Flash MX it's perfect quality, so I think when I saved it I had the quality settings low or something.

It a nice animation crowley, but there is one think wrong.
The check valve in the piston is not right.
Because of the srpring it should reseat as soon as the pressure on both sides is equal. (thus the gun is fully pressurized)
Yours reseats when its pilotted.

Yeah I wasn't too sure about that because on one hand you have the spring trying to reseat it, and on the other fixing the check valve ball to the spring might decrease it's area. Meaning less force is acting on it.

It should be an easy fix, it's only a few frames.

Alrighty! My big day is tomorrow. If I get 100% or more on my presentation then I get an A in the class, if not, well then... thats just too bad.

Updates:
Fridge compressor is up and running, easily putting out 300psi (thats as high as my gauge goes)
Image
If I had known it would be that easy I would have made one ages ago!
And MY GOD I LOVE COMPRESSION FITTINGS!!!!! If I had only known how much time and effort they save with just screwing them in! It is most definitely worth the extra $ you have to shovel over for them not leaking.

New speed results with my newly attainable pressures:
200psi 853.7fps
250psi 867.0fps
300psi 834.8fps

As you can probably tell, I am not opening the ball valve very consistently, and thus my speeds are rather variable. I expect that I could get even a little better if I spring loaded it, but I don't have time for that.

As for the HPA tank, I just got a Oxy regulator, that brings it down from 4000psi to 400, but the fittings are wrong, so I will have to investigate that further.
