sorry for double post.
Check this out, its a stacked tube just like a spyder paintball gun but then for bb gun balls! This is what I always wanted to make. I already sent this guy an email on the specs but he doesnt reply.

you don't buy coils, you coil them... They are just coils of magnet wire, which can be bought at any self respecting radio shack or electronics store. For a how-to on coiling, search coil guns, which are essentially non-returning solenoids.

well, i just construced my shock pump, so this gun might actually be construced and have good preformance

:D

however, i think i might end up constructing my own solenoid for this gun, because mcmaster does not have any "push" solenoids that will really give the "oomph" i want.

@JSR: I just looked at the page you sent me, and i think i might make the gun use some kind of capacitor discharge system like in that gun. Think a Camera Flash Capacitor will work? if you shove a good 12 volts through one of those camera flash bulbs the thing charges in less than halph a second.

well that doesn't have much to do with the 12v (I know it does, shut up) it has more to do with the overall current, ie: volts times amps, but still that is quite a good recharge rate.

if i hook it up to some kind of ghetto triggering system i think i might be able to get the "clack clack clack" i need to make this thing shoot like crazy.

The point of using the capacitor in the case of those airguns is that the solenoid is given a specific impulse of electricity, allowing to release just enough air when it strikes the valve to fire the projectile. In our case it might be an easy way of delivering a large charge from a limited setup, interesting idea :)

i just found a 43 OZ force push solenoid with a 1 inch stroke that can run off of 12 Volts DC off of McMaster........ i think that will do the job.

I will be purhcasing this soon, along with a 0-600 PSI guage for my New shock pump.

Im sorry, but does anyone have any paint pictures which could help explain this concept.
I would really like to understand this, but I just cant see how it works.

Thanks

(And sorry if this is a necro, I used the search feature when trying to find out how to Hammer valve worked.)

i didnt know drozds had a rifled barrel  wouldnt that really mess up a gun if it has a rifled barrel and you use bbs? what size barrel are you using? btw you are doing really well with automatics that arent using vortex blocks :D great proto :)

yeah I think the drozd uses lead balls, so yeah plastic ones could clog ur barrel. I am not sure what size> I dont have a drozd myself. The only gunz I have are the ones I built myself. Thnx> yeah poppet valves are very good for efficiency, btw the animation isnt mine.

where exactly is the air flowing through in that valve......

part 11 is where the co2 capsul goes>>

the moving part is the valve. The air flows through the valve stem>>

.... You'd be better off with a blow forward valve. I'm looking at springs on McMaster right now, in fact.
