i use a 9v battery pack with 1500mah and it works just fine

You know, you can run it off a camera flash circuit and a 1.5V battery.

TurboSuper has the idea.
You could also conceivably run it off a small gag lighter, which runs off a AAA battery, but don't take my word for it.
