Ill try that, maybe some girl has a left over or ill say they are for my girl friend or something, i like the idea(oh and we do have good old ebay!). What should i use as a filling for jack^s meathod? any ideas and here the amount of epoxy is pathetic and the price is a nock out, but we have EBAY so life is good, how much would i pay for a gun stock on a flee market? maybe i could acctually take the casting there and not buy the gun.. mad but could work! thank you already for all the help and advice!

A much cheaper and less labour intensive way of getting a stock is to simply buy a cheap airsoft rifle (I'm assuming airsoft is legal in your area) and hack it off, or in the case of modern assualt rifle replicas which tend not to have a traditional stock, find a way of fitting your spudgun into the shell.

the airsoft stock may not be a bad Idea, but if you do not want to make one look on ebay for paintball stocks. they look like real gun stocks and some are fairly priced. If you make a stock a good size chunk of foam should cost around $5, the fiber glass should cost about $20 for enough to cover a modest boat (you could build a whole lota stocks) a quart of resin is around $10 but should be plenty for several stocks. I would go with the gallon though because it costs $30 and you get a lot more than 3 quarts of resin. (I think, my conversion skills aren't the best the US should switch to metric)

How I would build it is cut the foam to the rough shape, and than work it like how you would work wood without all power tools (A dry wall knife is an exellent tool for this along with a razor blade and sand paper) , until you get the final product that you are seeking.

After that cut your fiber glass sheets into 1 inch wide strips, mix your resin and aply 2-3 coats (you dip the strips in the resin, apply to foam and use a tool to sqeeze the extra resin out)
Let fully dry than apply several more layers,
after that is finished sand smooth and to final shape, than paint/ polish to your liking.

I would personally do what others are telling you, which is to wrap some sort of foam in Resin.

Honestly, I would do something like "boltsniper" does on:
http://www.boltsniper.com, As his stocks are simply made out of PVC and bondo.

Bolt sniper seemed to have pretty good results maybe you should give bondo and pvc a try, no matter what you do let us know how it works out

Ok, I personally like the idea of having a self made stock, it gives me this kind o happiness. The wooden stock is ok but ugly as hell... I am a lousy craftsman when it comes to detail and carving out of foam will definately kill me becuase i know i will mess up. How about this: I get a gun stock of ebay or from a flee market. I make a clay mold from it. I let the mold dry. I pour a thin layer of glass fiber resin stuff on(or lay out the stripes which are soaked). I do this all around the mold but in the two seperate parts. Then i take out the shell i made fill it with styrofoam beads and then close it off with one last layer of glass fiber and resin(ok maybe it will take a few layers...) I sand it down and color it(or if it looks nice the way it is i leave it). The thing i am worried about is weather or not glass fiber is really as dangerous to work with as i heard or if peple are just exagerating...I mean something that is nearly small eanoth to go inbetween the gaps of my skin cannot be nice, esspeccially if made of glass... Carbon fiber is said to be even worse... Thank you for comments and responses ahead and i cant wait to make that stock!

I think carving a foam blank and applying the resin directly to it would be much simpler. If you're worried about glassfibre, well.. wear gloves ;p

i know this isnt one of youre options but try cutting out a stock from a 2 by 4 piece of wood and sanding then finishing

Glass fiber CAN be dangerous if you do not take the proper precisions. If you are using the loose fibers (I do not recommend this if it is your first time working with fiber glass) were gloves a cheap painters suit (the plastic ones that cost $5 will work) and use a respirator. If you are using the sheets you have nothing to worry about. I would still do this in a well ventilated area, or ware a respirator. The loose fibers are notorious for getting lodged in skin, all though it is not life threatening (unless you in hale them like a moron) they are a bit irritating for a couple of days until they work there way out of your skin. A long hot shower helps to sooth (I have had them imbedded in my neck arms and hands, I had clothing covering my body but still got through, I solved this by wearing a cheap PLASTIC painters suit.) I recommend using a respirator If you are working with any fiber glass, even sheets, because the resin could cause some major brain damage if you inhale too many fumes.

and is there like some resin i can simply pour without the use of glass fiber? i can make a mold from the meathod Jack mentioned involving wimes underwear(that sounds awsome) and then jsut will that up with something, would that work?

you can probaly just strech the nylons over your foam and them paint the resin on. You will have to use several layers still

Reminds me of an idea (against rules to discuss), involving a PAK blank semi or full-auto and a blow forward bolt.
It would need two magazines though.
Hope I haven't said enough to break the rules though. 8)
