I had always wondered why noone had tried shooting charged camera caps (with a few mods to make them stable in flight) out of a blowgun. Seems like it would be a very effective ammo against stuff like rodents. Although you would have to be very careful to have some sort of removable mouthpeice that woudln't allow the cap to touch your mouth.

Yeah, it ran through my mind as well. I'm gonna assume it's because firing something like lead pellets at a good clip will cause more damage than a capacitor ever will.

I remember some students posted a video of a device they made which fires a charged capacitor embedded in a ping-pong ball. They seemed to have a shaky grasp of electronics at best, but the device itself was pretty cool.

I'll guess didn't take a bank of a half dozen of them overcharged to 350V across your whole body. I have.

Surprisingly, more a sharp and unpleasant tingle than anything else.
I love having my ultra high resistance skin - I'm off the scale on my multimeter, which has a 2 megaohm upper limit.
That puts me several times higher than any normal human, and I'm so highly resistant (pun definitely intended) to electric shock or electrocution.

We had some transistor based moisture detectors we had to make in technology class back in my old school. Anyone else in the class could touch the prongs and get them to go off. Me? Not a chance.

I had to use a very high current gain Darlington pair when I was designing my "touch-the-trigger" laser system, which worked by running a current through my hand - I might redo that system for another cannon sometime, it was pretty cool.

You're lucky Rag...when I get shocked I'll feel it for the next 10 minutes, it sucks :(

But I'd reckon if it pierces below the skin your super-human powers would protect you no longer :D

Lucky when high voltages are involved, yes. Not so great when there are low voltages and I want to run currents across my skin.
But you're quite right - pierced skin, no good.

I'm just plain weird, because I also have a different mental perception of pain (high pain threshold), and a considerably below average number of nerve endings in the skin. So in the case of pain, I'm far more resistant to it than the average person (and with it, able to push myself physically further than most people before it becomes painful).

My wolf avatar is not completely inaccurate. In many ways, my body and mind are far more animal than most people's. In terms of the mind at least, that's what Asperger Syndrome does for you, regresses parts of the brain into an older evolutionary form, which mostly shows up under stress or strong emotion. My mind is far from unlike what a human/wolf hybrid would actually be.

Why a wolf than anything else? It just fits me like a glove.

JSR how come you always have interesting and relevant (well most of them are) links for every topic??

I think the biggest downside to the XREP is the fact that it costs almost $100 a go.

It's obviously also useless against anyone in body armour, and the low velocities mean that you're going to have a hard time hitting anyone on the move.

It will have it's uses, but I think that the costs will be hard to justify in a lot of situations.

Because if it producel recoil, I probably like it, and I like to keep pace with latest developments - you never know what could me relevant to my own R&D :) Oh, and I spend far too much time in front of PCs, not detracting from life but usually detracting from sleep.

Hope he doesn't plan on having kids :D
