So what about all the southern-hemisphere members like me and the Aussies?

It's summer here, so to be fair the contest would have to allow PVC on the cannons. An all metal cannon can get very expensive down here.

Even if it was winter here, PVC is the way to go as it doesn't snow where I live, or most of the Aussies for that matter.

ok then both metal and PVC is that a deal every one can liv ewith, and then we could have two categories and voilla a great all cannons contest.

I agree, metal is very expensive in my area, and I am not prepared to drop $400 on a crude spud cannon (ok the price might be exaggerated, but it aint cheap) I propose there be an all metal category, and an all pvc catagory (except valves and components)

The next contest was discussed at some length back in May - June here.
Many of the ideas for moving forward had been pounded out. It was left with PCGUY to officially announce and moderate it.

I've mentioned it a few times since publicly and with PCGUY. Anyone else who feels moved to do the same, I support whole heartedly.

well if PCGUY didn't organise that contest, chances are he won't organise this one.... so it looks like if we want one, we are going to have to have a non-official one with no prize fund.

Just ask him, i guess if people help out he will be happy to make a contest.

If it's really a problem, you could just have one overall contest where everyone gets judged, and those who paid an entry fee would be allowed to win the prize money. The overall standings would be the same like this:
first place bob
second place rob
third place bill
fourth place greg
fifth place tim
sixth place tom

But say only rob, greg and tom paid an entry fee, so rob would get first place PRIZE, and so on. This way everyone gets credit for making the best cannon. They just wouldn't get the prize.

And I'm in the US but it's almost 70 degrees here, and I have four cannons coming up in the next month. (3 of which are PVC)

(sorry I know it was a little late for that)

We should really only need his permission. I'm sure me and the other Mods can do the rest of the organising.

We'll only need PCGUY to give us the A OK and maybe use the Spudfiles donation PayPal account for entry fees.

How about every one just pays an entrance of 5$ then we have 50 contestance and the price mones is 200$ and the second prize is 50$ somethign like that. Unlike on other forums the mods here are very capable and as Mr.C said PCGUY doesnt have to do too much.

No way would we get 50 people to enter. Closer to 20 if that.

at around 6000 users we cannot get 50...Ok then 20 that is still 100$ if every one dontates 5$...and i think some, including my self would be willing to pay more.
