oh right, im tring to make a copper piston gun atm but i cand solder with propane and i thought that was the stuff to use, there goes 40 bucks :x

Don't worry :-). Propane is more than up to the job (it's what plumbers use). You just need to get your technique down.

Of course this doesn't answer the question, but I think you can get a 12V power pack that you can recharge at wal-mart... Either auto or camping section.
