I prefer not to use pipe cutters - I used to, but it crushes the end of the pipe in and takes a lot of work to clean up properly. You get much better results with less effort by using a hacksaw neatly. Getting a straight cut isn't hard - slide a slip coupling to the appropriate place on the pipe, use the edge of it to mark a line the whole way around with sharpie, cut to that line, clean off the sharpie.

Obviously though, a hacksaw isn't much good when you've pipes multiple feet in diameter. :tongue3:

You could make one yourself with a mini torch and just set the pipe on rollers.It wouldn't be practical but why not!

My brother-in-law was a boiler-maker at Voith (sp) in York Pa. They make hydro-turbines for dams. He got to use all kinds of specialty tools like this.

D_Hall: I'm not quite sure why you decided to post this thread... Your writing tone and your apparent need for a machine like this are, well, interesting. I don't know much about you at all but I've been reading your recent posts and they make me wonder...

That sounds like one hell of a job. What kinds of weapons are we talking about?

He has made minor mentions of some nuttiness he's been involved with in passing, but to be honest, a lot of what he does will no doubt be classified - as you might expect of experimental weapons...

Not spook toys. Spooky toys! They are, after all, experimental. Some of them don't work right. Eerieeeee feeling when things don't work as advertised.
