Oh and before someone says we're going off topic..technically we aren't. This topic was quite broad and covered everything to do with pneumatic cannons and ammo :)

If you want something to survive, you can also cast in in a block of epoxy.
Invulnerable ipod's from the sky!

Oh I always wondered how santa could visit every house in the world in 24 hours! He just does it with a pneumatic cannon ofcourse! Intercontinental precision gifting.
And just call in a carpet gift strike on the masses.

I made a pneumatic sniper and for ammo I use darts from my blowgun (I tested PVC diameter in the shop) it pretty much owns...

By all means if any one fires anything at super sonic speeds that is worth over 50 bucks: WE ALL WANT TO SEE IT! And if it is a nano then we defiantely have to see it! We should have a contest: Wierdest things gone super sonic. Once we have people calling police because they saw a flying fryign pan then we have our winner! :D (ok sorry for the off topic stuff).

Heck in my case, it's unusual to see me fire anything worth more than a few pence (although I have not yet beaten the sound barrier)
My reckoning is that if I'm spending money, the returns will be better if I spend it on the cannon instead of the ammunition.
