Wow, really great work on that stock. The copper gun was a really decent stand alone unit...this really set the whole thing off.

Amazing how much a paint job and a nicely made stock(and yours is awsome) can add to a fairly simple and rather average or good gun. This thing is a beuty and definately one of the cleanest and nicest guns on the site. Also your paint job shows innovation and creativity as the choice of colors for the cama look is new(or atleast to me) and magnificent!

That's very nice! I really like how you got the chamber right up under the barrel by turning the valve sideways. That's pretty slick, especially in copper.

that is a SWEET gun. the only way it could get sweeter is if it was a 20x hybrid instead of a pneumatic but those are hard to make so just stick with pneumatic

A lot of you will probably be most dissappointed to hear this, but i've been only been running it at 100psi!

I made a MONUMENTAL boo-boo during construction by spinning up a lovely little brass 'cap' to go on the end of the 3/4" tube to ensure a perfect sealing face for the piston to close against. The problem was that it caused a slight flow restriction (from .700" to about .600")

I looked at it at the time and figured that I could offset most of it's negative effect by increasing projectile weight (...in my mind decreasing required gas-flow velocity...) but after getting GGDT running I found that I had cut it's theoretical maximum performance (at a conservative 275psi and 25gram projectile) from around 130 ft/lbs to nearer 107...

So to cut a long story short this one is now being developed for accuracy and I will just have to start another one for "Damage Pics"

With a view to starting an informal, international, "Spudgun Benchrest" 'friendly shoot' who here would be willing to put 5 shots though their favorite spuddie at an agreed range and post the results?

If so I wonder what kind of velocity you can get with 6mm .20g Airsoft BB's.

A lot.... But the the mass of an airsoft bb isn't much, so it wouldn't go too far.

yeah obviously it would be best to install a hopup to help with that and use heavier BBs, I'm just curious to see the velocity (in FPS) with .20g since that is standard for Airsoft. (places chronograph before matches and require you to chrono with .20, A lot of people use heavier BB's though.)

Hey David, Yes, the front of the 'action' presents as a standard 3/4" female pipe thread, so all manner of things can be made and screwed into it, as soon as the barrels get under about 1/2" they can be recessed 3" back through the 'dead space' and the back of the projectile presented to the front of the piston, effectively making minimal 'dead space' and also solving my restriction problem... but then pi x .250" x .250" x psi isnt pi x .350" x .350" x psi is it?!!

As for velocity, I don't know how to get my hands on .20g Airsoft BB's!
So can't help sorry! Maybe GGDT?

EDIT: Bad news guys, my Dad has forbidden me from building any more spudguns in HIS shed... and has ordered me to dissassemble "Desert Storm" He used to think they were pretty funny and even used to have a shot every now and then but now he recons that they're starting to "look too dangerous" ...whatever that means... and wants me to stop it before I "blow myself up". I tried to tell him that this was the safest one yet but he started to get tampy and wouldn't listen to reason at all..
So I might be a bit slow on the building for a while, ...at least until I get my own shed...

Hoi Sniper Hero! Make sure you start with a piece of timber that is wide enough! (..my stock broke during construction...) A bandsaw is great for roughing out but not everybody has one, the single most useful thing for shaping would have been one of those sandpaper disks made of many 'flaps' of sandpaper glued to a fibreglass disk and used in a cheap 4" (100mm) angle grinder.
After that, (if you are going to paint) the boatbuilders i used to hang out with had a saying:
"With a bit o' bog, and a bit a paint, we'll make it look like what it ain't!"
(Bog is the term for car-body filler. Great stuff!)

That's still the same energy as a 22LR so I wouldn't be too disappointed.

Also, just 100 psi? You could - well, should - easily take it to 300
