It's as simple as asking him. Don't just rule something out because you can't be bothered making a serious competition.
So I guess for now we have another 'favourite cannon of the site' competition. In the mean time we can organise a new, serious competition with money based rewards. We just need to discuss it with PCGUY. We'd probably end up using his donation PayPal account for 'prize donations'. He would hold on to the money until the competition is over and he can give the money to the winner(s).
No offence but a Spudbux reward is pointless. Spudbux will probably soon be obsolete and all you can buy with them that's actually worth buying is a signature and title. Not exactly rewarding for members who've posted a couple hundred times.

Kay...so.
Enddate is June first..
Competition starts NOW.
No further discussions, no prizes for now, just the honour and a way for the new guys to present yourself.
You can not enter your own cannon. Two other members must nominate it for entry.Of course you can post your cannons in the section it belongs, just mention 2009 competition in your title.
I like the theme thing.
Theme is : all entries must contain a new concept.Wether it's a new kind of bolt, new kind of valve, new kind of material, new kind of ignition or new kind of ammo.
It doesn't matter.A never before seen combination is okay too.
If it's concept has been discussed here before, it's okay, as long as nobody's built the thing...
If the thing has nothing new on it, but looks damn good, it's not accepted.
Time to build those ideas you proposed earlier, but never got around to!
That makes it tough to moderate. ANY ENTRY MUST POINT OUT CLEARLY WHAT THE NEW CONCEPT IS OR YOUR ENTRY WONT COUNT!!!!! This is to ease the moderating of the contest. With that being said,
LETS ROCK!!!!
At the end of the contest I will build a poll for the voting, voting will last 1 week only.

Is it too late to enter my Venom? My new thing would be a 100% clean (no wires or clamps) design and all anodized aluminum. Thats kind of unique isn't it? Oh, it sort of covers two classes as well. The advanced combustion and the Hybrid. Also unique or no?

Yes, it has been mentioned about a complete cannon before. I don't think preduction cannons should be allowed, you are offering the Venom for sale in your signature, correct?

Hang on just a minute, what is wrong with doin this properly. last time we mentioned competition we just got (no offence to anyone) a cheap excuse for one, when really what we were discusing was the MAJOR one with prizes and so on.
I think before we se anything down at all, jrrdw, that we should talk to PCGUY and see if we can get one of HIS competitions going.
And jrrdw, moonbug has asked for his cannon to be included and you, without any say that your rule or your competition will go ahead, denied him of this. Not cool mate.
So before this turns out to be a mnor cometition PCGUY needs to be presented with our need for a competition and I personaly do not see what it wronng with using the same rulesas the las official competition.

If someone wants one I will get one made for them, yeah. Its not a production model thats for sure lol. As of now its the only one and I hate to admit it, but with the cost it will probably stay that way. I can take the offer out of the sig if that would get me qualified.
Other than the sig offer, does this cannon qualify for the contest?

Wasn't it the Eclipse that won the last one?
I don't think a favourite cannon contest is really stimulating, it was the last one Kyle organised that had really got people thinking and fleshing out those radical ideas which had been shelved.

To add to what JSR pointed out:
Many here have ideas that would end in very expensive designs, and are not willing to "waste" that in a favorite cannons competition with no prizes. Especially seeing as how while we have THIS competition you are planning a proper NEXT one. So why bother put hard work, and ideas into a competition that gives nothing if waiting for the next one would give you a chance of winning a prize.? Really I think we should hang on and get something good and rewarding going instead of having two consecutive competitions. I like the theme very much though and would love another competition, just not quite this way.
And really I don't see why no one pmed PCGUY already, its done in 5mins and really things are simple; Many people on this forum would really enjoy another competition with prize money and all, could you help us fulfill this idea? There is a discussion about it
here

I have seen a few threads almost identicle to this. All this talk and no actual contest. I do like the idea of using the theme "something new" though. It doesnt need to be revolutionary, just something about the cannon that hasnt been seen before. Make em work for the win.

how about new and under 70bucks, this gives everyone here a fair chance and challanges people and then you really don't need to worry about what I stated in my last post. You can't moderate it, but i guess/hope we can trust members not to go over the price limit.

There should definately be a price limit on the cannons entered - this evens it out for those on a lower budget.
The prize could be the cannon being paid for (ie. you give in the reciepts and are "refunded" by the prize money)
People could just do an itemised parts list stating where they got the item and how much it was.
(This might provide a small problem because some parts (sprinkler valves, stun guns) are cheaperin some countries, but I think people will just have to play to the strength of their country.
My new thing would be a 100% clean (no wires or clamps) design and all anodized aluminum. Thats kind of unique isn't it? Oh, it sort of covers two classes as well. The advanced combustion and the Hybrid. Also unique or no?
If the criteria is a "new idea" you are gonna be flooded with people asking whether thier idea counts as new

Would the limit include auxilary equipment such as bottled gas/ regulators, compressors, etc? Where does the launcher end and the support pack begin?

Hmm good question.
if we were to say that ALL auxilary equipment must be budgeted, and then allow people to opt for a hand pump from the dollar store for budget purposes, but realistically use their own compressor (so long as it fills through the same port valve) or bike pump.
The other way to do it might be that when filling with something like HPA is concerned, it wouldn't be included in the cost, unless it was an integral part of the cannon. So if the job could be done also by a bike pump, you can discount the HPA system from the budget.
Example:-
A regged HPA system powering a QEV cannon through a schrader: Doesn't have to be budgeted
A regged HPA system in a backpack directly attached via high pressure hose: must be budgeted
Any sort of BBMG is going to need to budget the CO2/HPA system, because you can't really run them off a bike pump*.

Yes I totally agree with bio, if it is part of a gun/cannot be taken out it is budgeted.
One problem. Lets say I make a really simple copper QEV gun. It works of 400psi is a coax. Very simple BUT i added a woaden stock(this is another problem i will adress in a sec.) a scope or red dot site, laser ect. ect. Do I get refunded all these little "thingi magigas" which really ar eno crucial to the gun but none the less mos tprobably what caused me to win?
Also lets say I make everything my self, stock, fittings all of it I poured in my back yard from scrap aluminium in my waste vegtable oil foundry. I spent 50hours making the gun and the molds all together were worth 5$ in molding sand. what do I get refunded?
Lots of little problems, none which can't be solved, so lets get this thing going!
