The half mile rage is with my rifle. which is a .50 cal, and does not shoot bouncy balls, but lead rounds, or steel bullets. they when right through a computer case, curcit board, floppy drive, and out the back of the case.

thanks everybody for the comments. But, for the last time, it is NOT a DWV fitting, and the busing is all the way in, fully bottomed out. as well as the pipe on the other side, AND the end cap. all are made from pressure rated pipe, and are fully pressed into each fitting.

I will post my 6' cannon soon.

But yea, the rifle is huge, and powerful, so i need to wait until i got to a friend's house to shoot it, as an apartment wall is no match for a steel bullet....

Any ways, the clip is a sawed off PVC "T" with a length of pvc on the bottom, and a spring inside to push the balls into the ball valve./

BTW, my rifle is over 6 feet long. and will toss a bouncy ball a half mile easily.

Hmm. I smell inconsistency.

Also, you simply can't see a .50" projectile at half a mile. So, if you saw it land, then it wasn't that far away. And if you didn't see it land, then you're, at best, just guessing.

They went right through a computer case, circuit board, floppy drive, and out the back of the case.

I've spent enough time shooting at this kind of thing to know that's unlikely. I suppose it depends on the projectile and what parts of the floppy drive you hit, but there's a lot of metal in those things.
(Not to mention that PCBs themselves are almost unbelievably tough...)

I'd want to see that on video. Partly to prove it, and partly because if you can, it'd be pretty epic.

The gun is 17.5'' long without a barrel.


in regards to my 50. cal
you caught me! the 50. cal rifle does not shoot bouncy balls. It shoots steel bullets. I have no idea why i said bouncy balls.

The metal bullet hit the face of the floppy drive, square in the center and went straight through. The bullet is both sharp, and solid.

I will be taking a video as soon as i get get to a safe place to shoot. I simply can not shoot i in my apartment.

the reason the valve is so strong, is the i replaced the diaphragm with a neoprene one i cut from some scrap at work. it opens much quicker.

if used neoprene then u should use high presure like 200psi

Still using PVC. i chose not to take PVC above 120.

You sent a projectile 1/3 of a mile at only 50PSI in a PVC cannon? That is pretty amazing, looking forward to you posting this cannon. Then we can finally settle these distance claims.

Again, this thing fires a reasonably aerodynamic rifled projectile with a high sectional density and several thousand psi behind it and can only manage 1/4 of a mile tops.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof.
