dude not safe i mean into neighbors shed what if some one was in thier it could have killed him u should shoot your canon in a large field or somthing

My most destructive ammo is water-filled tennis balls. They will go straight through a 24" CRT television.

I once fired a sabot loaded fishing weight. The sabot went flying at MACH FIVE ZILLION and the fishing weight litterally fell 5ft infront of the end of the barrel of the cannon. It was flapjack-tastic.

But I'd say the most destructive thing I've actually fired was a broken shovel handle. It had a foam rubber covered handle with a knob on the end that fit snugly inside the barrel of by old BV cannon.

The sabot is the blue part, the "shoe" which supports the sub-projectile in the barrel. It's the sub-projectile which actually flies to the target and does damage, like for example the glorified flechettes that are modern anti-tank kinetic energy penetrators.

The proper terminology would have been "saboted steel spikes", but I digress, let's not argue over semantics

Depleted Uranium!! haha just kidding, i wish tho. The most destructive i have ever really used was a 3/4" ball bearing, with a hole bored thru the middle and had a nail like rcmans' inserted thru and welded in. if i can find it in the woods i will put a pic up but last time i shot it, it went thru and old door (pine, not a hardwood) and kept goin into the woods.

I haven't done alot of penetration but this is a really cool idea.

The foam sabots are specifically made for a 3 inch barrel. They were nearly air tight. It was difficult to push the round down the barrel with out equalization. I'm not sure how much the round weighs. I got it at True Value for $3 for 2 or something like that. The fins are made of foam core project board just glued on with hot glue. The sabots were made of layers of 2 inch foam board. The pressure wasn't measured. But it was a combustion, so it couldn't have been more than 100psi.

we're talking about the same thing. mine was like example 1 but instead of 1 projectile there was 25 and the "shoe" was toilet paper. it was awesome. i made about 5 or 6 of them and killed a pecan tree.
