@D_hall
you could keep the chamber where it is but put the barrel below it... that would make the recoil easier to handle and the gun would be better balanced and more comfortable to shoot as its centre of gravity would be below your arm

But it would be much more difficult to aim due to parallax between the axis of the eye and the barrel.

parallax error exists to some extend in all guns
well, it's not something you can't take into consideration... I'd say it's not such a big deal on a gun like this
I don't know what ammo you want to use and at what ranges but let's face it... it will probably be more like a grenade launcher than a rifle

D_Hall, I was reading that on a fairly small screen, so I thought you were serious until I saw the picture of you holding a salvaged Flak 88 on your shoulder. XD
Anyway, I just got me a brand new heat gun (old pneumatic blower fizzed out on me right at the end of a project

), so I can get back to making proper furnature out of PVC without dragging out a giant compressor. It's going to be a JOY to use. I used a clunky old one on the robotics team, it was quite handy. But bending pipe alone isn't going to solve the issue of handing both a bolt action and a valve RIGHT ahead of the trigger guard....
