r-22 isn't that bad, but you should remove it.
Just kidding you should try to not pollute the air as much as possible. Its co2 thats not really bad it comes from just about everywhere including trees. (at night they use the sugar they make in the day)
A tree consumes much more CO2 during the day then it produces at night.

If I can have a compressor leak and not be arrested by the freon police, then why would you worry about emptying a system for the last time?

because I would rather not break the law. I found a place that will actually pay me to get the freon out of it.

Update: I tripped while carrying the thing, and a tube in the thermal transfer area cracked and began leaking. It is now sitting outside.... :cry: oops.

Well at least you can get the compressor out.
