Since the responses tell me that i cant get a strong enough spring then i think im better off dropping the idea then.

Can anyone explain the single stroke and multi-stroke air rifles to me? Cause i cant seem to get why they can get so much power from just 1 or a few strokes of the pump, and isnt it going to be tough to pump it up?

Multi stroke ones work in the same way as any other air rifle (like a PCP) but the pump is integrated in the gun. Single stroke ones can be spring piston or use a hammer valve. A lever is used to decrease cocking difficulty.

You can probably find a strong enough spring (or failing that, build a gas ram) - the major issue is building a frame strong enough to contain the mechanism.

As to single/multi stroke rifles, they usually have tiny chambers so it doesn't take that much effort to bring them to high pressure. There is only one reasonably powerful single stroke rifle that I know of, the Parker Hale Dragon.

The Sharp Innovais an example of a good multi-pump that can get higher power.
