XRV?



an idea for the trigger system, however you will need to pull it quickly.... or use a hammer

Chamber is abit overkill and to make it more astheticly pleasing you could make the smaller chamber into a handle/grip. Another thing, the power wouldn't be very good because of the short barrel and slow opening times of the valve so it would benifit(SP?) from higher pressures.

I would put a "hammer" around the barrel that slides forward against a spring and when triggered slides backwards and strikes a collar on the barrel. Very much like a Condor style hammer but without the complexity of a breech.
You would need to build a bit more structure around the barrel to support this type of mechanism though.

I've tried doing that once, i never made a working model because i realized other valves are better suited for larger bores, nonetheless, if you wish to have a look at my attempts, feel free.

Technically a XRV is nothing more than a manual hammer valve. The rubberband idea seems doable and should increase performance. However you would have to get a really strong rubberband for most pressures.

Ive tried a larger boar but it was almost impossible to fire at 30 psi so I scaled it down to this, I havent power tested V2 but it seems to be slightly more powerful than V1 which could shoot through 4 or 5 cans at 80 psi which is the limit of my pump, I need to order a shocky, then I can really see the power of this thing

Well that sounds kind of contradictory . At higher pressres i imagine this thing will be very difficult to fire.

Well it was impossible to fire with a 1/2 in boar but this is a 1/4 and is still easy to fire at 80 so at 150 it should still be possible to fire and at 200 to 250 with a spring loaded trigger mechinism it should be able to

Like i said earlier, you will need a very strong spring and it seems like it will be more trouble than it is worth. Even with the strong spring, you will have to recock it and what not. So that being the case why not add a handle to the barrel for more leverage?

actually i just took apart my broken airsoft pistol and I may add that as the handle, what do you think would be the best way to attach it, Its metal so super glue wont work

EPOXY would be the most viable option.Of course you could use bondo or some sort of epoxy putty.

I havent had the best luck gluing metal with epoxy but tis probably because i mixed it wrong, ill try it if I get a chance to cut a groove in the pipe

Well are you gluing the entire lower reciever of the pistol to the barrel? If so then use bondo and basically cake it on there and smooth it out. Then when it is dry sand it and paint away.

I figure i will glue the barrel in the barrel part of the shell and cut off the hammer with a dremal

Edit-Airsoft grip didnt work so I used pvc
