Pool noodle in a 3'' porting coaxial valve was a terrible bumper.

It gets stuck in the sprinkler valve... which is 1 in EVERY single shot.

A good bumper could be made from a coil or garden hose with slits cut in it to allow it to "Crush" easier. It should resemble a garden hose compression spring. lol

Hubb said he cracked the tee with only aquarium hose for his bumper with this piston, I had a piston kinda like this and use a big spring for the bumper, it helped it seal and made a great bumper

Ok Well I'm gonna run over and get that hose... if it's still there.

edit: nope it was gone, but i have some spare in the back yard.

hubb said with the hose his still sracked like clemsonguy stated

If the hose does not work well enough, I saw a gun somewhere that use half of a nerf ball glued at the back of the piston, this worked good enough on a 3 inch piston

I used the bumper from the corners of shopping carts the make the piston in my 2" valve.

How did you get the bumper though

I'm just leaving the foam thing in and i'll test it t 30 psi... you thing that will hold up at 30? and jor2daje how's you get that lol. I've seen it before in random cannon. the hose was gone when i went to get it but i have some spare in the back yard, I used it to reinforce the bumper. i stuck a little piece down to the middle of my bumper to open the hole up a little more. but i'll keep my eye out for things

I've shot mine at 30 psi with no bumper and I didy break anything, don't try that because my piston was light but it stll
needed a bumper

yeah i'm not doing anythings dumb, i can't afford to break it.
i'll post it in the showcase tomorrow after i test it then add updates when i get the bumper and up the pressure

Thats a really nice valve. Can't wait to see it punch some holes in some plywood. i really like how you put the fill valves on the sprinkler valve.

I used the rubber corner piece on a cart, I had one that I took apart for my tricycle.

A quick note on PVC fatigue and survival. Just because it passes a few shots without breaking does not by any means it is passing as safe. I learned this with my Mouse Musket cannon. Over time it always would break the piston, even at low pressure. The piston was made from a 1 inch PVC pipe cap. I upgraded to HDPE, but the cannon developed another crack in the chamber, so it was retired.

I don't think the piston will be the parts that breaks, but the back threaded bushing, which is a rare unreplaceable fitting for me.'

Thanks Marfy I put it on my golf ball guin today and it shot through my wood fence at 30 psi.. OOPS :D
