I concur, great job!
Where did you but the barrel and what was it sold as? What did you use to cut out the "receiver"? Where did you get the magazine spring?

Correct! I used Legos to align all the parts when I was assembling the magazine. It turned out the blocks had just the right dimensions. After doing that, I realized I might as well make the follower out of Legos too. They worked out perfectly.

It's hard to tell from the pictures but, is there anything to hold the rounds in the magazine?

not to be offensive but you can find that thing in almost every pic he posted
also take into consideration his other thread where this gun was mentioned and what he wrote about it here

I am talking about when the magazine is not in the gun what holds the rounds and follower from coming out. These are commonly referred to as the lips of the magazine.

There will be no "lips." Eventually I'll have a removable pin to block the opening but I haven't gotten around to doing that yet.

Does the follower ever shoot out of the mag then?

The spring travel ends before the follower can get caught in the mechanism. The picture above shows the follower as high up as it can go.

I hope this helps a bit... it's a different gun but it gives you a general idea how DCV (3way valve) + QEV + air cylinder combo works

Parts of the RSP have been dismantled. I'm going to be rebuilding the receiver and barrel out of different materials... no longer chambered specifically for Nerf.

Not entering the Nerf challenge now? Hm... you could've won then took it apart.
