question: do you run any kind of anti-virus ?, I ask cause I have seen viruses that embed their code into programs (and high cpu usage is a pretty good sign of a infection), I know it is highly unlikely that this is the problem but this is a really strange problem. Try a fresh copy from D_Hall's site...

It only happens after I hit the calculate button. I'll try a dl from your site. See what happens.
EDIT: Just downloaded from D_Hall's site. Unzipped to its own directory. Made 3 calculations, changing only the barrel length, no problem. On the 4th attempt, it locked up again (Not Responding), but this time the CPU didn't seem to be overworking. Usually the fan immediately goes to high speed as the CPU starts to work harder. This was what I got with the previous install, eventually with the CPU starting to go nuts. This was version 5.4, although your site showed a screenshot of a version 5.7. Is this in the making??
EDIT AGAIN: Looked at the Performance Monitor during a lockup. The Memory Allocation climbed to nearly twice its original size as depicted in the pic. I also had stopped or shutdown every program I didn't need running when I ran it.

Ummmm.....
4.6 was the last version. I just checked both the files on my own computer and those on the website. There is no version 5.x be it 5.4 or 5.7. Are you sure you don't need to lay off the hash pipe?
edit: I just noticed... In your screen capture you show HGDT (which made it to version 0.5.something), not GGDT. Those are two very different programs. Which one is it you're having difficulties with?

The performance monitor shows HGDT, which is what is giving me the 'headache'. Sorry, my mistake. Just got back to work again after 9 months and its been a real wake up.
Any way, this is the one that's locking up. GGDT does absolutely fine.

Can you post some screen shots of scenarios that bomb?

Here is a before and after. I loaded the program, put in the parameters, hit calculate and got the graph. I then changed only the barrel length and hit calculate and it locked up.
