Meaningful discussion outside of the potato gun realm. Projects, theories, current events.

Do you always close your ball valve when you go to sleep or if you leave your house for more than 45 minutes?

3 of my friends had these experiences:

1> $2,000 water bill in Tenn. caused by freezing pipes.

2> My friend Sam had a $24,000 repair to his kitchen and walls and his PB pipe was replaced with copper.

3> My friend Keith is a General Contractor. He awoke one morning to water on his bedroom floor. The water filter canister under his kitchen sink burst. His floor and his cabinets were ruined. His bill was $12,000.

If the diaphragm gives out, you would have water in flowing in your house as before.

There is a manual lever to activate the valve in case of power outages.

If you were one of my 3 friends, you would easily recognize the need for this.

BTW I installed it today. It works as intended.

I would have ran a linkage rod from the ball valve handle to where it could easily been accessed from up stairs or where ever. The only problem I see happening with sprinkler valves is deposit build up breaking off and lodgeing in the diaphram.

Sounds like your friends had a string of unusual bad luck.
